Matt's Show Tonight

Sooooo.... anyone go to tonight's show? Recap? Please share the details.

I completely missed the "party"...darn obligations. I'd love to hear how the show went!

The show was amazing! Matt is a natural born performer who grows everytime he hits the stage. I was truly mesmerized. The man is just an incredible performer. He has so much energy, passion, and life! His banter is perfect and he is so charming and funny.

OMG one of Matt's band members came out while Anna and Matt were performing You Don't Know Me during the saxophone solo with a blow up saxophone and pretended to play the solo. It was so hilarious and watching Matt crack up was so much fun! When Matt was talking about how honored he was to be performing for the the Gilmore Festival he said he was the only performer who couldn't read music at the festival...so funny!

The drum solo during Hard To Handle was well hot! It was great because he did a drum solo and of course the piano jam in the same song!

Sexiest performance would definitely be Let's Get It On! Damn can that man move. And the pants he had on were let's just say tighter and more epic than the tour pants...LOL!

The most beautiful emotional performance would have to have been I Miss You Tonight! Wow with the simple arrangement of the piano and acoustic guitar it was breathtakingly beautiful. It truly was for me the moment of the night.

His Hard to Handle at the Gilmore Festival was definitely my all time favorite of this song. So funky and cool. His band blows the American Idol band out of the water. Truly incredible

IF I Say Hallelujah was so moving and almost angelic. It's the perfect song to end the show! It is such an amazing song...just beautiful!

Stayin Alive was funktified and so damn cool! Loved, loved, loved it! He opened up the song beat boxing!

Breaking In A Broken Heart was also funky and cool! I love that Matt sound and I love that song.

The only Matt originals he didn't perform was Gimme A Break and If You Were My Lady. Brand New Day/You Don't Love Me is still my favorite Matt original! 4 In The Morning was very well received and I liked the new spin they put on it.

The John Mayer song was very good. I think it is called In My Atmosphere. It was very simple and lovely!

It was fun to hear the pop medley although I didn't know any of the songs but he had a great time performing them and I think the audience loved it especially the younger crowd.

I am trying to remember everything. He performed for 2 hours and I am so lucky that I was able to attend. My hope is that every Matt fan will see him soon. He is a performer not to be missed! I am praying that he will get to open for a known act soon because I am positive he will make many, many, many new fans! I wish I was better with words because this review can never live up to how amazing he was!

I don't know any of the pop medley songs either but I do know that Miley Cryus song was called Party In The U.S.A even though I never have heard the lyrics to that song before!

Hi all. I just thought I'd add a few things. If I'm incoherent, I will apologize up front as I'm on pain meds from a sinus surgery. Last night I was a complete zombie in the green room sipping tea. Anywho to hit on a few things.

The John Mayer cover is "In your Atmosphere." You can find it on the Where the Light is - Live @ Nokia Theatre CDs/DVDs and here's a youtube link. This was played by my bf (Matt Young) on acoustic & Matt on the piano https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q7FP5R2EOwc

The other duet was Gabe Dutton (bassist, not Sam Parks the other guitarist as it was reported on the Kzoo Gazette/Mlive article) and Matt. The harmonies w/Gabe and Matt are amazing.

Hallelujah is my favorite. For those that heard it last night, you would be blown away by the recording that has been done in the studio on it. There's about 8 layers of harmonies between Matt and Gabe and it sounds like a full out church choir. It's beautiful.

I cracked up on the epic pants comment haha.

Other than that it would have been nice to do the after party and the after after party with the boys and the other girls, but I just wasn't feeling good. It took everything I had just to drive down and make it through the show. I usually like joking around w/ Matt but barely said hi (er wait I did inform him that when my grand prix dies that I want to buy his old one in 2 years) but that was it. He probably attributed it to my drugged up state Hopefully I'm more myself for the next show.

Oh, and the inflatable sax...yah that was Matt's idea. I guess he joked at the January show how it would be fun to get a fake one and then yesterday when he pulled up in his car for the sound check he had the inflatable sax in his car and couldn't wait to give it to my bf. My friend sitting next to me during the show was like, "Did you have any idea he was going to do that???" I was like, "No, I wouldn't have come. It woulda been a deal breaker." Jokingly of course =)

It was Empire State of Mind (the one he did with I think it was Alicia Keys during the Grammies or one of those award shows a few months ago).

Thank you soooooo much for the recaps! Jenna, thank you for compiling the videos on the youtube account. Been so busy, I can't wait to go through each one! I´m so glad there are so many videos from the concert! But yes we should all be able to see his shows, he really is natural born performer. And he has such an amazing recording voice too! So I would say Matt Giraud is par excellence in his craft.

(The tour pants are still number 1 for me LOL!)

That's ok Jenna! I did try to look for y'all after the show but there was too many people and I didn't stay long after the show cause I took my aunt with me and she had to get up at 5:30 to babysit her grandson but we did stay long enough so I could buy a t-shirt!
