To all Michigan Matty G Fans:

The following 7 stations in Michigan are the ones who report how many times they play a song to Mediabase, which then decides the song's chart position. At this point, several of the stations are playing the song, but only WLHT is playing it on a regular basis, and it does not appear to have played at all in Detroit. Can you please help by requesting at these stations and organizing others to do the same? How to request is included in the table. Also, would you please post to this thread if you hear the song on one of these stations?

I received a response from Detroit, MI - WYCD/WOMC http://womc.radio.com/contact/.
Can you also please email Operations/Program Director - Tim Roberts - troberts@wycd.com?

Also, we know WVFM 106.5 (Kalamazoo, MI) has been playing the song. FYI, they're not on Mediabase. http://www.wvfm.fm/

I have been watching the playlist for WLHT 95.7 in Grand Rapids for the past week, and they have not played "Thank You" a single time. Will you all join me in emailing the station?

http://www.wlht.com/ContactUs/tabid/506/Default.aspx

Also, for those of you who are local to the area, would you please enlist other Matt fans to help get his song played in Grand Rapids?

Star 105.7 is going to play Thank You sometime this afternoon. Please listen and then write to the station thanking them for playing the song. You can send a note to the program director, Kelly Iris, kelly@westmichiganstar.com. We really need to encourage them to get them to keep playing it!

I have been requesting to tlucasa@wnic.com and to Magic since it was released. Still no luck!! Hopefully if more people are requesting besides me, they will actually start to pay attention! I will add the other stations to my list.

PostSubject: Good news reply from 99.1 WFMK!!   Tue Aug 31, 2010 11:52 pm

I received this reply today after asking the radio station (99.1 WFMK in Lansing, MI) to add Thank You to the rotation. cheers

Hi Mary,

We're actually already playing the song. And I do agree, it's a good one.
Keep listening to 99.1 WFMK as we're planning something extra special with
Jim Brickman and Matt Giraud!

Have a great week,

Mary,

This is wonderful news about the Lansing station, and a very nice note from the program director!!! They have not added the song, but there are currently 10 stations that are playing the song but haven't added it, so they must be one of them. That's nice to know because we don't really have a good way to identify those 10 stations.

Wonder what they have planned with Jim and Matt?

Also, regarding the Detroit stations, mattyfan posted the email addresses a few times, and at least a few of us have sent mail to the program directors multiple times. I'm pretty sure Matt has a good-sized fan base in the Detroit area if the AI concert there was any indication, so if we could find those people, it would likely work better.

WLHT played "Thank You" again about an hour ago. i guess they are officially playing it now! This was 7PM rather than 3AM, so very good. Please thank them if you hear the song.

So, now that Grand Rapids and Lansing are on board, I guess it is time to work hard on Detroit!

Hi everyone,

Matt really needs some new stations to add and play "Thank You". Yesterday he visited Detroit and last week he visited Lansing, so can we push real hard to get Detroit on board and Lansing to add the song and spin it more? Also, can we push hard on the WOOD station in Grand Rapids, since they are not playing the song very often either? Here are some things you can do:

DETROIT
* Get the number of views up on the youtube video of his Detroit performance,
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=37Yq6W802e8&feature=player_embedded. It is already pushing 200 views after less than one day, which is really solid. MJ posted it, and everyone is going crazy about it, even people who aren't us! Add comments to the video, too.
* Send mail to DJs and program director thanking them for having Matt, telling them you loved the acoustic "Thank You" and encouraging them to keep playing it.
Program director: tlucas@wnic.com
DJ Jay Towers: wnicpromo@clearchannel.com
Afternoon DJ Kristin Burns: KristinBurns@clearchannel.com
Twitter: 1003wnic, jaytowers

Facebook (of jaytowers) with pic of Matt:

http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=5191274&fbid=433801286199&id=242762931199&ref=mf

LANSING
* Send mail to program director thanking him for having Matt and encouraging them to keep playing it. Use the link: http://www.99wfmk.com/contactus.asp

GRAND RAPIDS (WOOD):
* Send mail to program director Kelly Iris, kelly@westmichiganstar.com. I did this one time, and they actually played it because of my mail! So, we should all keep trying this.

I posted this in the Jay Towers link as well. Info on 1003. WNIC Detroit

Another email is for the afternoon DJ: Kristin Burns. KristinBurns@clearchannel.com.

She actually responded to my email yesterday saying she would "look to see if we have it" and asked where I was listening from. This is more than I ever got from Theresa, who has never responded to any of my emails. I still haven't heard it and haven't seen that they have played it since I requested but the more people that request, hopefully they will!!

I also add 1003wnic on Twitter and request the song there. They Retweeted my tweet to them yesterday requesting Thank You, but never played it.

They also have a Facebook page. I left a comment on the page thanking them for having Matt on the show. Kristin Burns (afternoon DJ) liked my comment. <---This is why I think we need to focus on her too. She responds to all communications.

I noticed on the playlist of WLHT in Grand Rapids, they suddenly stopped playing "Thank You" a few days ago. The last time they played the song was Monday at 6AM. I'm imagining they removed it from the playlist for the week. On Sunday, they played the song 3 times, and last week, they played it a total of 14 times. So, it is a big loss for Matt that they are not playing it now. His spins are still looking ok because a few other stations (Melbourne, Milwaukee, Knoxville and Jackson) are playing the song more, but he would be in a stronger position if he hadn't lost one of the stations that was playing it the most.

If possible, we need to convince them to start playing it again. Please request there.

I contacted Kim Carson last week asking why WLHT was not playing "Thank You". Herre is the response I received from Kim:

Quote :

...feel free to write to the guy in charge jerry.noble@townsquaremedia.com

The song would be in a stronger position with Grand Rapids playing it, so please send a note to Jerry, particularly if you are a GR local.

Yay! "Thank You" was added by Flint today! I think this is in the proximity of Bay City where Matt is performing on THursday. Some new spins!

Mary,

We have the following link to the Flint website (also posted at the top of this thread):

http://www.wcrz.com/Requests/tabid/3378/Default.aspx

It is a simple form and doesn't even ask your city.

I am thinking the timing of this might be related to Thursday's concert, although since the concert is sponsored by a different radio station, I am not sure what incentive the Flint station would have to promote it. But sometimes the stations have the same owners, so who knows? This station is also one that has played Jim Brickman songs in the past so either Jim knows someone there or their audience has Jim fans. Also, Matt tweeted that he was visiting the station on his radio tour but then never confirmed or announced an appearance.

Whatever the reason, I'm just happy the song has opportunities to continue growing and moving up the chart.

I am still working on 100.3 WNIC in Detroit but they still haven't played Thank You. Sad I decided to focus more on 96.3 WDVD and Magic 105.1, I haven't sent too many requests to them but now that the CD is out, maybe we will have more luck. These stations both have Twitter pages so maybe we can all send some tweets/RTs to these stations too.

Twitter for 96.3 is 963wdvd I tweeted them this morning.

Twitter for 105.1 is for the DJ Jim Harper: jim1051 I am not sure if the station has it's own, I will see if I can find other accounts for them.

Twitter for 100.3 is 1003wnic

Mary,

Thanks for your persistence. The recent adds of stations like Seattle and Oklahoma City give me encouragement that there are more stations out there that may be swayed to add the song now and start playing it. Members of our forum have made contact with people at both those stations, and it eventually paid off. That's what we need to move up more, so please keep trying even if it seems impossible.

I have been contacting WLHT in Grand Rapids about once a week since they stopped playing "Thank You", and I finally got a response today from Jerry Noble:

Quote :

We're playing it on 100.5 The River. Sounds great!

I guess moving it to another station they own in the area makes it possible for them to satisfy the Matt fans. Unfortunately, 100.5 is not a Mediabase station and doesn't contribute to chart position, but I suppose any station playing the song is a good thing.

Oh don't worry, I won't stop requesting from 100.3, they won't get off that easy, LOL! I still send emails and I still get the standard "thank you for your email, have a nice day" responses but I am still hoping the emails help and keep Matt and the song in their minds. I also wanted them to know that the CD is available now, maybe this will make them think more about playing the song...I don't know.

That is awesome to hear that 100.5 The River added the song!! That is great news! Even though it won't help with the chart positions, it is great to get Matt's name (and voice) out there so people don't forget about him!! Not everyone is as involved in the Matt Giraud world as we are, haha! Razz
