Jenna,
It's nice to give some much-deserved credit to Sweet J for all Matt's successful concerts in 2010. Most importantly, they sound great, and I get the sense that they all have an opportunity to contribute ideas to the arrangements of the songs they perform. They seem like they are having so much fun performing together, and it makes the audience have fun. I like that they each get moments to shine in the concerts.
And I really want to repeat something I think I've said in earlier threads. The combination of Matt Giraud and Matt Young in the various acoustic performances at radio stations (Thank You, Brand New Day, Baby Girl, This Love Ain't Meant to Be) has been unbelievable. Matt Y.'s guitar playing is truly outstanding, but even better, he somehow manages to anticipate what Matt G. is going to do. This is no small feat because Matt G. has probably never sung a song the same way twice, and may not even know when he starts a song what he is going to do by the end. (Or at least, that is always how it feels to me, very spontaneous.) But the two of them together are creating these inspired moments with the acoustic performances.
When Matt tours more broadly, I hope he will have Sweet J right alongside him. Matt always said he wanted to front a band, and he is doing it! So happy for all of them!
