| Arguably the most popular cover song Matt does is "Let's Get It On". It gave him that wonderful moment on the "Ellen" show, and it has become a crowd favorite at his concerts. I thought it would be fun to put together all of Matt's performances of "Let's Get It On". Over time, you'll see how the crowd gets wilder and wilder when he sings this, especially as he moves around the stage. You may remember a lot of folks got excited about the Hayman Loft performance, and then later about the Forest Hills performance where he worked the stage for the first time since AI. Since Taste of Kalamazoo, the screams are pretty consistent throughout the song. His moves at the Battle Creek concert in August are particularly high energy, and the middle school girls close to the front go crazy, even with the PG-ified lyric changes. The last Bay City performance is the most lively, where he goes out into the audience, gets his ring, takes a picture and sits next to someone in the audience and puts his arm around her. Hilarious! As a special treat, I was able to find a recording of his AI television performance. He sounded so good. Smokey Robinson said Marvin Gaye "would have loved that" and "would have been floored", and both Randy and Simon called him a frontrunner. We may have another one to add next weekend from his Rockford concert, and I'm wondering if he can outdo Bay City??? | Wow! Thank you for putting this together, csprof! I think Hayman Loft is still my favorite, but each one has it's own twist! I know most people won't want to hear this but I thought his AI performance could have been more of a stand out if he had dressed better for it. Just something younger and more hip than the cardigan and tie. Vocally he couldn't be topped. | |
