Subject: Question Of The Week #10 Mon Mar 28, 2011 10:56 pm
Since Matt is having a show in a couple of weeks and because the concert is in a church I thought I would ask everyone what religious/spiritual song they would love to hear Matt sing?
This song makes me cry everytime I hear it!!
I would really love to hear him sing I Can Only Imagine by MercyMe. This song makes me cry everytime I hear it!!

Jenna,
Great question! I loved it when he covered "Move in Me". The piano composition was gorgeous.

I also loved Move In Me. I would love to hear Matt sing A Place In This World by Michael W Smith.
I don't know how to embed the video in the post so here is the link

Hahaha guess the question is too hard since no one but 3 of us has answered it. Oh well I tried to generate Matt conversation so no harm right?
I googled contemporary christian music and found this site...

Of course you don't have to post christian music any spiritual or religious music is good!
Here's Matt's Move In Me...
Diane I will look for your video and post it for you! Thanks for answering the question

I'm thinking a couple of Matt's songs could get played on Christian radio like "I'll Hold On To You" and "I'll see You In A Little While". What do you guys think?

I just went to Winter Jam Friday night... which is a concert of contemporary Christian artists. I got to meet a lot of them and got some new music! Right now I'm really loving Chris August's album. I think Matt would sound great covering one of his songs.

I'm not really sure exactly what qualifies as Christian music. But that sounds right, Jenna. In my mind I sort of categorize Matt's music into different genres/styles/influences and those 2 songs seem to fall under the John Hiatt influence (who happens to be another eclectic artist).
I'm ready to hear a new original from Matt right now. I'm curious if he plans to concentrate on one genre or keep it diverse in a "Mattified" way. I just want an album and tour already. !!!

I forgot If I Say Hallelujah as a possible christian cross over song. Mattyfan we have a station called the fish that is a religious radio station. They play christian music but also uplifting music that has christian overtones.
I agree Mattyfan...so ready for new music, cd, and a tour. LOL I think that has become our mantra!

Jenna, maybe if we keep saying it, it'll actually happen. Hahaha! The wait is such torture sometimes isn't it?!!
How about "Everything" by Lifehouse? I think I'd like to hear Matt's vocals on that!

Jenna,
Matt is just that good. I have never seen Matt live, and it is completely out of character for me to get interested in an artist in this way. When I listen to his music, I have an emotional response every time. I love the way I feel when I listen to his music, so that is what keeps me interested.
But mattyfan is right that without all these videos, I think I would have moved on by now. He is an amazing performer, and he seems to just keep getting better. I wish someone would help him with the parts of getting his music out that seem to be hard for him. He seemingly got the help he needed to create the music -- it is amazing.

This is exactly how I feel about Matt's music. There is not a day that goes by that I don't listen to his music and I never get tired of it. Hahaha sometimes I change the CD because I think I'm getting to single minded in my music listening.

Sorry, I haven't had the chance to get on here much. Yes, Starry night is a GREAT song. I also love his song called "I'm Gonna Sing"
or "7x70"
Chris' whole album is great and not all of the songs are religious. He has some love songs too. And I'm not sure I can see Matt singing something so religious as the above songs (and Starry Night) at a concert. Maybe if he was just performing in Church on Sunday. I don't know. But Some of Chris' other music, such as this one:
Or of course, something by The Fray.
Actually now that I think about it, he'd probably do great covers of songs by Kutless.
FOR EXAMPLE: THIS! I think it's kind of perfect actually

Very cool suggestions, Christina! That last song by Kutless sounds so similar to, in terms of melody and lyrics, (but better than) another song that talks about moving mountains, but I'm so bad at song titles!
I also hope to hear some new original songs from Matt!
EDIT: Hahaha, I surprise myself! I just figured out the song. "The Climb" which I remember from seeing it on XFactor when JoeMcElderry sang it.
But I don't really like this one enough for Matt to sing it, lol!

I have been meaning to get on here and post but have been so busy! Everyones' suggestions are great! I am always excited to see what Matt chooses for himself. He amazes me with any song really!
I would love to hear "Move In Me" again. I have always wanted to hear him sing "So You" from Mind, Body & Soul. I tweeted Sweet J that I would bring them Candy Bars if this happens. I will be ready with those on 4/15 if he plays it. "Too Many Nights" would be great to hear too. "So Small" would be lovely to hear also. So many to choose from that he has already done. The Valentine's benefit was probably one of the best sets I have seen him do.
Today he posted he was working on song selection so hopefully we have put in his ears some of the things we would like to hear from him & he chooses to do some New Songs. I am positive he will not disappoint in whatever he chooses.
