| It's in 3 parts. Cute interview. http://www.westmichiganstar.com/cc-common/podcast.html - I LOVE that his ringtone is "Electric Feel" by MGMT - The line about him having moments on the show where he was the happiest he's ever been in his life was the sweetest thing. I "aww"ed outloud. | |

| this was a cute interview, but then again aren't they all? lol
I liked when he said he didn't regret singing the Fray... good for you dude, stand your ground! He can do this music and be successful, the judgery doesn't always know what they're talking bout... take for instance this little nugget Paula tweeted:
"Don't forget to watch Danny Gokey tomorrow on Regis & Kelly. He's so talented and I know he'll go far." hmm.. ok Pauler...
anywhozers, back to the interview... I got kind of googly eyed when he was talking about his agent... I guess I just never realized he had one! lol... hope they're good!

Paula: What kind of market will Danny tackle? Just saying. He will have a Taylor Hicks type of career that's all I can say. She's also been so supportive of Matt. You heard what the DJ's said about Paula approaching Matt after the finale and getting to talk to him for quite a bit. Man if only Kara and Randy can make some meetings happen with record executives. I like that Matt has an agent. Do all the idols have? But he said he is in a limbo at the moment, is that because they don't know if 19 will sign them or not? Or because they have to wait on Kris and Adam to announce their record deals so they can see who is interested? Guys, I am so sure Allison is getting a record deal. Apparently according to an article on MTV big producers are interested in working with her and think she will be huge. I never really got all the Allison hype, I mean I'll give her credit that she can sing her butt off and is edgy for a 16 year old, but I dunno.. I just don't see the appeal. Why is Matt is not at the same level? He is marketable and his voice is a million times better than Kris. Just saying. Sometimes I wonder if Matt's main problem out there is that he never defined who he was as an artist because he likes so many genres. But I also think he now knows he has to lean towards something more specific to make a debut album and I think he will go the soul rock route like Gavin and/or The Fray. That's what he said he was going to do so, I hope it works out with the interested labels. Once again it made me cry what Matt said about some moments during the show being the happiest moments of his whole life. Awwww. He is such a nice, sweet, just good person. I LOVE him. I want him to succeed so much. I really hope he gets some offers soon. Sigh I am just a bit nervous. At least he said he is going to start writing songs with people... That's promising I hope that people like Colbie keep their promise.

Apparently, he does have some good people backing him. He's been very careful to not be putting his foot in his mouth, like a few other contestants. And to those who are kinda afraid that Matt won't be signed...from an objective standpoint, I don't think there has ever been a contestant as talented while @ the same time, as current as Matt on the show. Not to mention, as charismatic. Charisma goes a loooong way in any type of business. It draws people to you. None of his charisma was showcased on AI (at least not nearly enough). I think Matt is very smart & is learning about the music business. I also think that there are some good people who are working on his side. (I truly believe that Colbie's kickin' mad knowledge to him about the industry & is hopefully opening some doors.) Lastly, for people worried about his itunes sales: Honestly, I just think that Matt picked a few songs that aren't extremely popular today or weren't as big of songs back in the day (aside from LGIO, which is his most popular on itunes), which is why they're probably not selling as much as the other contestants'. I still have no worries that he won't make good music. The boy is 100% capable, & once he is doing his own material, I think he will be selling tremendously better than some of the others if they happen to put out albums as well.

| P.S.
I liked the part where he was like: "Is this my first music video concept?" I could so see him doing that in a video!

Gavin DeGraw was there and he was asked if he watched the show & he said no, but that Paula had shown him clips here and there. Then I thought: if he doesn't watch the show, & he's not a performer, & not really there to promote his album (he didn't say anything about it) then why is he there??? Awwwwww, Paula! Did you show him clips of Matt and invite Gavin to the finale?...That's what it looked like to me. =)

| I'm not so worried about Matt....yet. He's obviously a people person, which is a BIG strength for getting your foot in the door. Connections in the industry are important, and he strikes me as someone who makes friends very easily (he's already got Colbie Callait following him on twitter which is not too shabby). Another thing I find really refreshing about Matt is how realistic he is about everything. He said it in the above interview...who knows where things could go, it could be everything or nothing. The man clearly isn't delusional and knows it's not gonna fall in his lap. With that attitude, I have faith that he's gonna work really hard. And whatever his personal definition of "success" is, I think he'll reach it. I get the feeling he might just be happy as long as he gets to perform for people and make a decent living doing what he loves. | |

I agree with this, especially the bolded part. Charisma is just as important as talent (because let's be honest, would Pickler gotten a record deal had it not been for her cute as a button (albeit stupid beyond belief) personality? Prolly not!) And he must either have some really good people behind him already or he's just really smart. because post-idol he's so far made all the right moves. And like ShellBen said, he's very realistic about his future... I don't see him reaching for Beatlemania (which isn't going to happen for ANYONE on the show, sorry Adam I just don't see it!) but he's reaching for a career where he gets to make albums, tour, and get recognized by his peers. He doesn't need to be Carrie or Chris D. successful but I think he'd be happy with Jordin/Pickler status.... and the iTunes thing... it's only natural that the top 4 would be on the charts. what we're seeing only takes into account current sales,(i think either that day or that week, I'm not sure) The top 2 are the only contestants currently releasing new tunes and it's reasonable that they're the ones still selling. We don't know that maybe the week they were released maybe Matt WAS one of the top sellers, (I have a feeling Country week he probably was high on the list) we'll never know the trends of the sales as the singles were being released....

Yeah.. I agree Gavin's career path is what I see for Matt in the future. He just has to get signed to a major label and have some radio hits to start building from there. I am telling ya, with the right material and direction Matt will be successful. Let's just hope that a great label is willing to give him a chance. I have a good feeling they will.

I think Matt's concerts will be so much fun just because of his background as a dueling piano player. He'll have a great rapport w/ his audience during the shows, which will make people want to go see him just because of that...This is just another reason why I think Matt G. is unlike any other artist. He's gonna bring something VERY VERY different to music.
