Giraud, who says it all feels like fun, never yet like work, agreed.
"Sometimes I have to pinch myself," he says, shaking his head in wonderment.
Both hope it leads to bigger, permanent careers in music.
"I want to be a pop star," Desai says, "that's what I want to do. I want to make music that people want to listen to and love."
Giraud says he simply wants a regular life on the road and in the studio.
"My dream has not really come to fruition yet," he says. "I feel like I got everything I wanted from 'Idol.' I got to play piano on stage, I got to meet the mentors.
'"But I want to go out and play my music every night, to be in a club or a theater night after night," Giraud says.
What they'll sing: Giraud says he'll do Ray Charles "George On My Mind," while Desai says he'll do Bobby Brown's "My Prerogative."

I just love this guy so much! If this can't get us hyped and ready to beat people down with our grassroots approach nothing will! I want so much to help Matt reach his dreams. We need to become more vocal! We need to be more organized! We have to help get his name out there! I hope people are ready for the street teaming event this summer! If you cant' afford to do the CD's handout the inserts I have made or make your own that way people interested will know where to find info about Matt at. I will be uploading it in this thread!

I think we should make this board and everyother Matt board as active as we can so when people search for Matt after they see him on tour they will see a busy, happy, excited fanbase! Also keep playing his songs on myspace! Volunteer to source cellcerts because believe me that will get people talking and excited! Join his myspace, twitter, and facebook if you haven't already. Come on GiraudSquad and BG's let's get this happening!

Yes, Matt definitely seems well-grounded. He hopes to start in smaller venues and work hard to gain new fans. How could anyone think he's entitled or smug?

I would love for Matt to get his own record deal, but I think Matt actually prefers touring and live performances. You can tell he loves the rush of being on stage!

I hope after the Idol tour is done, Matt's agent/manager/promoter gets him gigs in clubs and theatres. His singing style and piano playing sound better in a more intimate setting anyway. He doesn't need pyrotechnics or elaborate costumes to make his concerts awesome. I think people will be impressed when they see Matt on the Idol tour, which means the potential for more GS members!

By the way, I hate how the press keeps perpetuating the notion that Anoop "barely" made it into the finals. Anoop lost 3rd place to Sarver in the semi-finals (by only 20,000 votes), so he basically was a shoe-in for the judges' pick. IMO, Matt and Anoop were the only worthwhile wildcards this year. Sorry, but Megan and Jasmine weren't that great, and most likely they were chosen to get more cute girls into the finals. [Matt provided the eye candy AND THE TALENT!]

Thanks for posting that, Jenna. Matt is going to make it far, and his willingness to pay his dues and work hard is a huge part of why he's going to make it big.

Loved that article, thanks! I think Matt would slay in small venues, as long as there is NO TIP JARS! I want him to keep moving forward, and come out with his own original music and have his own band...that'd be amazing. I really want him to push his American Idol contestant status as much as possible because it's like going to an Ivy League school--it gives you an advantage.

Oh, if there were tip jars, I think Matt would be getting only 100 dollar bills in the future!

I agree that forming a band would be a great first step for Matt. It worked out pretty well for Chris Daughtry, while there are too many Idol alumni who have had failed solo careers. He needs help writing his own original music, maybe from another singer if he doesn't have access to any big name producers yet. Hopefully, he can get some kind of help from his new connections in LA (Joel Madden, Colbie Caillat, Samantha Ronson?). He was hinting, but wouldn't give specific names on Larry King Live.
