Michael Johns just released an indie album and he just sold 5,000 copies! What a bad debut!
That's why I want Matty to get signed by a major label, it's just so hard going indie. There's not enough money for promotion and radio play so the record just ends up selling to the loyal AI fan base and that's about it.

To succeed you have to attract new people a new audience, and I think Matt has all the potential in the world to do that.
I am now starting to think he should form a band like The Fray or One Republic and go from there.
He probably would be better off trying to form his own band (like Chris Daughtry did), since it would distinguish him from so many past Idols who tried to have solo careers. Also, his piano playing skills should make him stand out from a lot of other Idols' who don't play their own instruments. JMHO


OR.. He could be a soulful pop piano player like Gavin.
We will see.

From this comment it looks to me he doesn't have anything right now and that breaks my heart.

I hope he pulls a Jason Castro! Please let it be!

I was a fan of Jason's last year, and I was so happy that he signed with a major record company.

IMO, Matt is WAAAAY more talented than Jason was during his season. So it gives me a little hope that if Jason worked hard for his record deal, then Matt can do the same.
It's a shame that Michael Johns's debut album hasn't sold very well. I actually downloaded some of his new songs from iTunes. I don't want Matt's post-tour career to go like Michael's (even though I still like Michael's music).
