First stop on my operation hit others with the Matty G "2x4"

So, the first stop on my "operation hit others with the Matty G 2x4" is my unsuspecting little sisters. I began the first portion of my operation with my 18 year old sister a few days ago. I played her Matt's LGIO to see how she would react to it. And she was LOVING it. I mean she was really feeling this song. When it was over I asked her if she liked him, and she looked me dead in my face and said "of course I liked it!! I love Marvin Gaye, his voice is killer!" I tell her that it was not in fact Marvin Gaye, but a cover, and she thought that was just amazing becuase "it sounded just like the original!"

Well, I don't know whether to call the first part of my operation a success or failure, But I figured I'd wait a bit before I began phase 2.

The perfect opportuinity for the 2nd portion of my operation came with the 49 second Youtube video of Matt's String dance. Oh, this was PERFECT!! The Matt music, while they enjoyed it, was not really very enthusiastcially recieved. So I thought that showing them a bit of Matt's winning personality would help make them fans. I had to wait until the perfect time to show them the video. I approached, about an hour ago, and said to them "hey guys, I just found this really funny video on Youtube, you have to check it out." (note that I was barely able to contain my laughter here, to make them even more curious ). So, we gather around my laptop, and I play the video for them. The very first thing one of my sisters (16) says is "OMG, is this that lame guy who won American Idol??"

Disclaimer: My sisters have never really been huge AI fans, I myself just got into it when my roommate would play the episodes and I fell for Matt. All they know is that "the red haired girl is TOTALLY awesome! And she pretty much rocks" "that gay guy should have won, if the red haired girl couldn't" yes unfortunately they call Adam "the gay guy" And "That lame guy won AI". So they are not fans.

Anyway, I assure my sister that no this is not that loser who won AI, this is the guy who won 5th place. Well, Ok they can watch. while watching there were alot of chuckling and some encouraging Aww's.... When it was over I asked them what they thought of the guy (Matt) and they all pretty much said "well, it's pretty OBVIOUS that he is lame, but he's really cute"

Thus ends my "operation hit others with the Matty G 2x4" on my sisters. I am not sure whether to call it a fail or success, but one thing is for certain, my friends had better watch out because they are next

I admit that I have been trying to convert my family and friends into Matt fans as well. See, a lot of them hate American Idol, so I can't mention that Matt was a contestant. I'm pretty sneaky, heh!

What I did was burn a CD mixed with songs by Matt and then some famous singers, too. When I played the famous singers' hits, my friends and family didn't notice anything different. Then I skipped to one of Matt's songs, like PTL, Stayin' Alive or Human Nature. Without fail, they always stopped and said, "Who is this singing? He's really good!" I have to tell them it's Matt, the guy from American Idol! Then they ask me why he didn't win? I roll my eyes and say, "I know, I know, but he DESERVED to win!"

At least I have convinced them that Matt is very talented, but they still hate watching American Idol! LOL

Well I have won over my mom (64) and mt sister (29) - The first time I played Matt for my mom she was like " who IS that - he has a killer voice - please can you make me a cd with him" I played part timelover for her. She loves Stevie, but we both hate the origianal PTL - so Matts take on this song completely changed how we both look at PTL.
Then I played LGIT for mi ssister - I sent her the YT from Ellen and she loved him. He truly has an amazing voice (wondering how many times I have said/thought/written this LOL)

My daughter ( loves So small and my son (9) really digs some of the more RB stuff from his first cd's. My other sons (15, 17) are not easily convinced. They think that I'm only into Matt cause he is cute (well his rugged good looks have come to play a large part for me, as some of u may have noticed )
And then hubby - he just smiles at me asking" have we heard enough Matt in the car today" He just doesn't get it lol. But he let's me have this musical hobby/interest ( well he can call it whatever he likes - I know i'm obsessed lol)

OMG!!! My aunt brought her son over here this morning, and my youngest sister (14) was bouncing him and I swear I heard her mumbling "I got no strings" LOL!! Successs??? I think this may just call for an operation pt. 3

We're off this weekend to visit some fam in Carolina, so I have all weekend to devise and implement my operation... I may just have to use some of the ideas that you guys had...

I will report back Tues. with how it went.
