- From a café in Arizona, accompanied by his “wingmen” Danny and Anoop (fellow former “American Idol” contestants), Matt Giraud took some time out of his day off from the “Idol” tour to chat with Blast Magazine about his “Idol” experience and upcoming new gig as mentor and host of the Yobi network’s new show, “Make the Cut.”

- He is currently writing songs, booking gigs, and wants “to do a ton of different things.”
The writing songs and booking gigs makes me happy but the ton of different things makes me nervous. Urgghh! Please tell me he doesn't want to be an actor, Broadway star, comedian, or really anything else but a musician? This "I want to do a ton of different things was Constantine's downfall and one of the reasons I stopped being a fan of his. I support musicians not actors or Broadway stars. I will be devastated if Matt does this. I supported him because I saw how passionate he is about music and how he seems compelled to be a musician. I hope he doesn't start muddying the waters with all that other stuff. Just my opinion of course.

Everytime I read og hear about YOBI I feel like he is distancing himself from his true calling. And yet he still claims that making music is what he wants to do and make a career of. I've said this before - rather than being the mentor I want him to have one. I think it's important for him to focus because I don't know how (or if) he would be truly recognized as a musician if he wants to make "a ton of different thinks". He can do that later.. I know he has to make a living - but there must be ways to avoid at least Broadway (please!)

OR, he's so sick of doing interviews that he's not giving a lot of thought to his answers. I hope the former is the answer but he seems smartly cautious to me and I think he deliberately gives vague answers because all will be revealed in good time. Let's hope!
