Matt Giraud and Scott MacIntyre, who both played the piano during their three-song sets (which included predictable fare by the Fray and Keane), were stronger and more confident than on TV.

Review from Herald-Dispatch in WV
Quote :
The crowd pleasers continued with Matt Giraud rocking out “Hard to Handle” (Otis Redding/Black Crowes). But what the crowd really wanted to hear was “Georgia On My Mind” (Ray Charles). Matt is an extremely talented piano player and he had a lot of fun with his arrangement on this one. It’s also when he put on his hat for the first time. Matt’s set concluded with “You Found Me” (The Fray), and he did a much better job with it here than he did on the show, but it still had its issues vocally. Matt’s piano playing, however, had not issues…

None of the Idol started appearing until 2:30. Scott came out first, followed by Matt. I slyly asked Matt if I could wear his fedora and he politely turned me down since his hair wasn’t done yet. He did hug me though and his cologne rubbed off on me. Basically I had a fangirl moment and smelled like Matt Giraud all day, which was nice.
Sweet Matty G. I’m pretty sure I squealed like a schoolgirl when he came out. Actually, I know I did because the older woman in front of me turned around and gave me a look. Whatever, I love me some Matt Giraud and I don’t care who knows it. He is an awesome performer. “Georgia” was on point and “Too Hard Too Handle” was electrifying. I think the record execs are idiots if they don’t give him a record deal.

The last person before intermission was Matt Giraud, who was definitely one of my favorites of the night. First of all, I just have to say that he's an amazing piano player. During his first song (I forget what it was called) he ran over to the piano and started playing this really complicated-sounding harmony and I was just like O_O WOW. And he also sang You Found Me by The Fray and I actually got the chills. Amaaazinggg.
