Anna Wilson's "Countrypolitan Duets"

Jenna asked me about chart news. I stopped posting the chart position when things started dropping. Thursday YDKM moved around between about #65 and #95. Today it dropped out of the Top 100.

Meanwhile, Anna's CD sat at #9 and #10 on ITUNES Jazz CDs for a while, but now it is #33. We can also check the Billboard chart next week to see how well it did over all.

We'll have to wait to see if the song goes to radio for any more YDKM action. Maybe that is Matt's news for Tommy and Brook at the WOOD radio station today. (Or maybe it is yet another concert in Grand Rapids.)

I wish American Idol would get Matt to perform again. They could even get Matt and Anna to perform YDKM, or Matt can perform one of his own original songs and then plug YDKM again like he did last year. Several of us tweeted American Idol about getting Matt to perform. Maybe if a bunch more of us do it, they might consider it??? I'd tweet @americanidol, @dizzyfeet, and maybe even @ryanseacrest.

I could see it happening if they had a jazz theme and invited Matt and Anna since they don't have a lot of AI alums who have charted on jazz and the record is new and reasonably visible. It is worth a try.

(Sadly, I don't think they'd have him on to perform his originals, especially since they are not released yet.)

I have tweeted Nigel, Ryan, and American Idol. Of course I'd rather he release a single of his own to perform on Idol but at this point I'd take Matt and Anna too. I agree Christina if we could get more people to tweet them maybe it would at least plant something in their heads! I'm definitely willing to try again! Maybe we should do it after the show airs or the next day. I saw Nigel reply to the Pia situation so maybe he reads more after the show to see what people are saying.

YDKM Unplugged is back on the chart at #72, and Anna's CD moved up to #3! Maybe Jenna's gifting started something today.

YDKM is at #45 now, and I just noticed that today it is the original and not the unplugged version that is on the chart. I'm not sure why, but I like it! Wonder if it will go up some more today.

Anna's CD remains at #3.

UPDATE: YDKM is showing up for the first time on Mediabase, which I think means it is being released to radio!!!

That's encouraging Csprof! I wonder why there has been an increase in sales? Maybe it has already been played on the radio?

If YDKM is going to be pushed on radio I wonder what market is being considered? Country? Jazz? Adult contemporary?

I am guessing AC and Smooth AC. I saw a few weeks back a website that said it had been released to jazz radio, but that was not through Mediabase so I don't know how to track it. Maybe some jazz stations are already playing it. I bet it would do really well on jazz stations, but unfortunately there are only a few in the country. I could see some of the other songs going to country radio, particularly the one with Keith Urban because he sounds great on it, but I kind of don't think this one will appeal to country radio.

Meanwhile, both versions of YDKM are on the ITUNES jazz Top 100 chart right now. Original is at #56 and Unplugged is at #100. Anna's CD remains at #3. I think I am going to go out and see if I can buy a physical copy so as to contribute to first week's sales.

I highly doubt it will be played on any country station. It's not country at all. It's just a song that was originally country, but Anna made into Jazz. I think it's safe to say it will be played on both Jazz and Adult Contemporary stations

I just cant see it being played on adult contemporary either nor country. I dont know guess we will have to wait and see.

Here are the nine "Smooth AC" stations listed in Mediabase. I'll check back on Monday to see if the song is added. Just because it is available in Mediabase does not mean it has gone for adds. Stations play songs that have not gone for adds, and occasionally add them, but the add date means the label is pushing the song. I don't know how to tell when it goes for adds but maybe there is a way to find that out. Jenna, I could see some AC stations playing it. One of my local AC stations plays songs like this, although the other just plays pop songs a few months after they are popular. (Neither ever played "Thank You". )

I've been so busy and have been able to listen to the unplugged version a couple of times only. Of course I like it. It sounds very tender. What an honor for Matt to be featured on Anna's album, be the lead single and have an unplugged version.

We need to try to get Matt on American Idol! How about a campaign for a jazz week and a performance? We need to get everyone on board.

Morning update: YDKM Original spent yesterday around #60, and Anna's CD went from #5 to #6. YDKM Original is the only single from Anna's CD that is on the ITUNES chart right now. I don't know what kind of volume it takes to be #60 in jazz, probably a hundred sales or less per day, but it suggests that people are hearing the song and deciding to buy it, which makes me think it might be getting play somewhere. Matt's and Anna's fans bought the original long ago. I know Anna is singing it solo on her tour, but that is Canada so should not be impacting US ITUNES. I'll check the adds today to see if anything happens. Encouraging!

This morning YDKM is at #81, but it drops every night and then picks back up in the morning. It seems to peak in early evening. Anna's CD remains at #6.

I picked up a physical CD this weekend at Barnes & Noble for $10 (member rate), if anyone wants to know how to find it. I read that it is also being carried by Walmart, and of course, you can get it from Amazon and other on-line vendors.

Today's update: Anna's CD has fallen to #12 on the ITUNES jazz album chart. But YDKM Original is hanging in there on the singles chart. Today it is up the high-50s. There was no sign yesterday of adds or radio play. I am truly puzzled who is buying the original over a year after its release.

I am listening to Anna's CD in my car. I honestly think YDKM is the best song on there, although I like several of the others a lot.

Anna Wilson's CD debuted at #15 on the Billboard Jazz album chart this week. I don't think that is particularly strong, but I guess it is not that surprising.

The CD is sitting at #20 on the ITUNES jazz album chart. YDKM Original is off the Top 100 right now, but it was as high as #51 on Tuesday and spent most of yesterday in the 60s and 70s, so I suspect it will be back on the chart in a few hours. It drops a lot overnight for some reason.

Radio news! The following station, in Traverse City, MI, played "You Don't Know Me" today during their jazz hour. Woo hoo!

Unfortunately, the chart news is not as happy. YDKM fell off the ITUNES top 100 jazz chart last weekend, and Anna's CD is currently at #47 on the ITUNES jazz CD list.

More radio news! Matt will be on the radio on Thursday at 105.3FM in Grand Rapids. I think is a Top 40 station, so I don't expect it will get a lot of play there, but it is nevertheless cool.

Anna Wilson's CD is at #10 on the Billboard Jazz Album chart, up from #15 last week. That's actually a really good sign because usually the debut week is the biggest. Maybe there is buzz? Maybe Keith Urban's fans bought it because he tweeted about it a few days ago?

On ITUNES her CD has fallen to #114 down from its peak of #3 just a little over a week ago.

Anna's CD has dropped to #29 on the Billboard jazz CD chart (in the undesirable biggest fall category today). It is back up to #59 on the ITUNES jazz CD chart.

Cranberry, I hope you are enjoying the CD. I have been listening in my car. Which tracks besides YDKM do you like? I really like "You're the best thing that ever happened to me" and "Night Life". I do not like the way Anna sings "Good Time Charlie's Got the Blues" but love Keith Urban on it. I really love the way Anna and Billy Dean sound on "Cherokee Maiden" but can't stand the song. All the rest sound good to me, but some are more interesting than others. Anna has an incredible voice.

On the Billboard chart this week, Anna's CD has moved back up to #25.
