Talking about danger, this an account from an ontd-ai poster who as at the concert last night, and saw a girl ask Matt to pass something over to Adam.
OMG BBS, I ALMOST FORGOT THIS, BUT IT’S SO FREAKING IMPORTANT:
TOWARD THE END OF THE POST-SHOW SIGNING, SOME GIRL GAVE MATT A LETTER AND ASKED IF HE COULD GIVE IT TO ADAM (DUNNO WHY SHE DIDN’T GIVE IT TO HIM HERSELF, AS BB WAS OUT THERE FOR QUITE A LONG TIME AND WE WERE ON THE LESS CONGESTED SIDE OF THE STREET, BUT WHATEVER). MATT AGREED, WITH MOCKED PUTOFFNESS AND SAID THAT HE WOULD ‘CAUSE HE GOT IN TROUBLE THE LAST TIME HE DIDN’T.
LOL! Twitter’s bark is a fearsome thing it seems.
OMG he is so funny! I love him!

Effing damn did you see the joyful smile at around 2:40 when he paused for the cheers? Wow he sounded amazing! Is it my imagination or did the piano sound different from other nights. The music was so pretty! It always is but it sounded different maybe because the sound of the video was so good and clear?

Holy expletive! I can't stop watching that Georgia video! Seriously, it took me like 5 views before I could even bear the thought of tearing myself away long enough to start this reply. Major chills. Wow...
The smile that really kills me is that little series from around 2:07-2:11. Its like he can't believe the reception he's getting. Could he look any happier? And he deserves it ALL! Whoo, amazing...
Gotta agree with you, Jenna, on the even-more-than-usual INCREDIBLE sound of that piano. I immediately wondered whether he changed something up or we've just been missing out due to sound.
Ok, I've said enough. Gotta go back and watch it again....

silencefound, I can't say that I know if EVERY Idol is making subtle changes to their vocals/ choreography/ wardrobe, etc. But I have been watching the YT clips from different tour stops, and I know for certain that Matt definitely changes up his piano solo during his first song, Hard to Handle. I have seen at least 4 different versions of it so far. Also, he changes the way he sings certain parts of Georgia On My Mind. I'm pretty sure that both he and Scott make changes on their piano duel part on Tell Her about It. I can hear the different chords or if he changes keys, etc.
I think all of them have to show some variety in their performances from time to time. They have to perform the same songs more than 50 times during the course of the summer. If they are serious about establishing their solo careers, they have to learn to grow, develop, adapt, etc. to their audience when they're on tour. True musicians find a way to break the monotony and make old songs seem fresh! :-)
LOL guess we are not the only ones who thought he was changing things up. I knew the piano intro sounded different.

If I was seriously impressed by Anoop, Matt floored me. I thought he was very good on the show, although a little inconsistent, but hearing him live is something else. Kris and Scott are great on the piano, but Matt is way, way beyond them. All three of his numbers were really, really first-rate. His set hung together beautifully and he just sounded phenomenal. I think he was my biggest surprise of the night - I had heard that Anoop sounded wonderful live, so I was expecting him to rock, but I hadn't been told the same thing about Matt. After last night, I would definitely buy his record if he comes out with one. (One little thing - doing his patter with the audience while messing around on the piano was just really cool to me. He was the only performer to do something like that, and it highlighted both his easy facility on the piano and his very likable stage persona.)

Everyone, be sure to read this whole review. It was really interesting and she writes in great detail. Another neutral fan of Matt's (she loves Adam, Kris and Allison) has been converted!

I almost think we need to start a topic which says, "I didn't like Matt on American Idol but I'm a fan after the concert" because its becoming a common theme! We can call it getting hit by a 2x4!

IMO that was probably the best review I have seen yet! I couldn't wait to post it so everyone could see it!
I am so happy that he is winning people over but what is even better is that he is really impressing people with how talented he is. Too bad you already sent the photobook to be printed sgr because this review should be on there. Wish I would have found it earlier.

Ha-ha! I love reading more reviews from people who have seen the light! Seriously, there have been a lot of Adam fans that count Matt as one of their favorites now, too. They're realizing what us Matt fans saw all along-- his energy, his sense of humor, his humbleness and HIS TALENT! It's like they're discovering Matt for the first time, even though he's been on TV for the past six months. Better late than never, right?
When these newly converted fans said they never knew Matt was talented, I thought of this song from the musical The King and I: Getting to know you, Getting to know all about you. Getting to like you, Getting to hope you like me. Getting to know you, putting it my way, But nicely, You are precisely, My cup of tea. [Yes, that was totally random! ]

Jenna those up close videos are to die for! In the "Don't Stop Believin" video Matt looks so beautiful! I don't know if it was Adam's idea, but the guyliner looks really good on Matt. Maybe I am the only one here, but I really think Matt looks hotter without fedoras.
Gah! I LOVE him. He is so talented behind that piano, I am with you ,I can watch him perform all day, if only I could! The day he gets signed and he starts touring his album will be amazing! Can't wait. He is too HOT for words, really. Love the way he moves in that chair with the piano..

The guyliner looks hot and perfectly fits the image he wants!
