Hello!!! Those thighs! I can tell you right now that I will be memorizing this video.
Thanks Jenna...this is the best "Don't Stop Believin" I've seen. The only downer is when the camera is taken off Matt for a few minutes when Adam and Kris come out of the floor
Don't ya just love the way Matt wants to just bust a move? I'd love to see him really break out and dance like he wants to. Did you notice at 3:54 the way he and Anoop look at each other and then do the little dance thing together? To cute!

Other standouts of the night included Jasper's Michael Sarver, who placed 10th but made up for his two-song set with a strong voice and personality; Allison Iraheta, evoking the look and sound of a junior Kelly Clarkson; and especially Matt Giraud, whose piano-playing prowess and crowd-stirring charisma were special treats.
That's our Matt...A special treat! And I love the especially!
The especially part was so awesome! Texas sure loved Matt and he loved them too. I am so happy because I am from Houston, so you know it's still Texas..
We still don't have any video from last night yet? I am dying to watch his entrance. The crowd roared for him during the cellcert.
Matt seems pretty happy in his latest twits.. Maybe something is finally going on behind the scenes. Pls. let him have record deal offers! Everybody who watched him live want him to have a career! I hope it happens soon!
Hello!!! Those thighs! I can tell you right now that I will be memorizing this video.
They look like they are just having so much fun!! Wow!! what a awesome thing to be a part of PLUS get paid 100,000 grand for doin it!! Woot! Woot!! go matt, go matt..the Boy Can DANCE!!
From MJ´s,the whole re-cap was very nicely written,go there if you are interested: http://mjsbigblog.com/musicallthetimes-american-idol-tour-2009-dallas-re-cap.htm Once Anoop is gone, Girlfriend says, “I know you don’t like Matt, but I’m going to cheer for him, okay?” Okay, I’ll cheer for him, too. As it turns out, this is no chore. His jazzy piano sounds terrific! I love his vocal riffing on “Georgia.” Matt’s outfit, white shirt, vest and arm garter, is perfect with the jazzy piano and standards. But I’m thinking, this guy sounds great, but how is he marketable? Isn’t his set too retro? Then he closes with the Fray song. Ahh, he could do something like that. Nice. I wish him the best.
Matt: He was defientey one of the standouts last night! He showed so much stage prescene with his verison of "Hard to Handle" and really showed how great his voice is with "Georgia on My Mind" and "You Found Me."

i went to the concert last night and i thought it was AMAZING!
It was my first time going to an american idol concert, i was there for adam of course, like most people.
i thought everyone was pretty good. i really enjoyed matt.
Matt also- in fact I think Matt was the biggest surprise to me. On the show, I liked his vocals, but usually not his song choices- that made him so-so for me. But live... WOW... Matt came out and did his thing, and he did it in a BIG way- I absolutely LOVED Matt last night! A highlight of the show for me was the Billy Joel piano duet with Matt and Scott. It was HOT... wow... I have no other words. I will be catching some Matt shows as well.

Every time I read a review from a newly converted Matt fan, I practically have tears of joy in me eyes. It's like, how can I be so proud of this guy that I don't even know?
I had to bring this over from the MyIdol forum, written by a hard-core Adam fan. Normally, I don't like to quote the entire post, but I just wanted everyone here to appreciate her (his?) new found love for Matt!
Oceanic815 started a thread titled "WOW... MATT IN DALLAS" and wrote: OK...I have to apologize to Matt's fans because I had been unimpressed with him on the show, but that all changed last night in Dallas, TX!
I am a huge Adam Lambert fan, and all season he has been the only contestant on the show for me...[more Adam stuff]
My biggest suprise of the night though, was Matt. WOW... he came out and delivered the most impressive set (besides Adam's) of the night! He held nothing back and we got to see him really go to town on those keys, which I loved! Vocals were amazing, high energy, great song choices, incredible talent instrumentally. A major highlight of the night was the piano duet with Scott. I had seen a video of it on yt and was really looking forward to watching it live. It was absolutely amazing!
I have thought about this, and I think the reason I wasn't really into Matt on the show (as well as many of the others) was style and song choice--trying to find their own style with songs based on a mandatory theme, that they probably would not have chosen for themselves otherwise. But in concert, we actually get to see them as true performers, in their element, choosing songs they enjoy...makes all the difference.
I am the newest Matt Giraud fan! It was a huge thing for me to admit that he was right up there with Adam for me last night. He stepped out on that stage with total confidence, delivered a smoking hot performance that he very obviously was having a total blast with! I felt like I was watching a guy with as much stage experience as Adam has- I'm going to be looking forward to his album and looking for some solo shows. Will definitely have to see Matt live again, and feel bad that I have not been here supporting him all along. So sorry Matt! Sending you some love now though- you rocked the house!
WOO-HOO! I can't believe how many Adam fans are starting to show their support for Matt now! Much like this poster, I believe that a Matt/Adam finale would have been AWESOME (sorry, I know Jenna and some others don't like Adam)! I really do like Kris, but he just seems so BLAND AND BORING when you compare him to Matt (and Adam). I think Adam fans are starting to warm up to Matt now that they don't see him as a rival.
I agree with this poster that Matt (and some of the others) didn't get the chance to show off the true extent of their talents because they were forced to choose from a very short list of approved songs. I remember from the Larry King Live interview that Matt said he had trouble sometimes, trying to decide which song to choose. He said he would procrastinate and try to avoid giving the "song clearance people" his song choice. When Matt finds the right song, he has the uncanny ability to recreate an old song and make it his own (like with Human Nature, So Small and Part Time Lover).
I can't help but feel confident that some record producers must be interested in signing Matt. After reading all the reviews, watching his videos on YouTube and seeing him perform onstage, how can they deny that Matt has star quality and the "IT" factor? Record companies had to have noticed how Matt clearly gets the loudest cheers during the first half of the concert! What are they waiting for?
Wow great find Riley! I love reading all of the fan reviews as well but this definitely has been the best. Really Matt is going to be fine. He will be successful and we will be supporting him for the next 50 years...LOL then all of us will be cougars.

Loved this Riley! Thanks for the post. I am so happy for Matt that he is getting this reception from so many new fans! We all have loved him from the beginning and it has been so frustrating to hear the comments re: his AI performances etc... Well, weren't we the smart ones!!! I almost want to go neener, neener, neener told you so!! (Grow-up Gracie!) Seriously though I get just so emotional with all this guess it is the "cougar-mom" coming out in me!

I wanted to add what else Oceanic815 wrote about Matt in the "Summer Idols Tour" thread from MyIdol:

Did you notice that he/she was practically speechless and could only say "WOW"? LOL It seems like everyone who sees his live performances are in awe! I remembered how Ellen Degeneres was sighing and staring into Matt's eyes as she was lying on top of the piano! Also, Regis Philbin seemed very impressed with Matt's piano playing skills when he was a guest on the show. Just look at how many big Hollywood names admire and recognize Matt's talents!

I am so excited about all these comments. Keep them coming. I just knew that when Matt was on tour he was going to gain a lot of new fans! Without nerves Matt is just incredible! And yeah.. I always wanted a Matt/Adam finale but.. alas ... no. Kris stole the spot.
Oh well. It's all over now and Matt's future is looking bright. I just keep thinking someone is going to sign him sooner or later. They just have to, Matt has so much potential.
If Matt keeps gaining fans like this every day I am sure come September.. the contract will be ready for him to sign.

LOL here is more evidence on my theory regarding Adam's devoted fanbase on MJ's agreeing to collectively agree on You Found Me not being very good...

Matt totally rocks out with Hard to Handle and Georgia is just sweeeeet. His piano skills are mad, i tell you, mad! The Fray song is not so much for me, but others loved him. He calls for cell phones. I put up a lighter. the woman behind me laughs out loud and tells me that me and my kids are as entertaining to her as the performers are.

From MJ's...
This was obviously a Matt fan to begin with and of course gasp...he loved You Found Me. See more evidence to support my theory.

Up next was my boy Matt Giraud, coming out performing the heck out of “Hard To Handle”. Towards the end of it a piano came up and then he finished the song off by playing the piano so brilliantly. He really seemed like the first person to get the biggest reaction of the night so far. He has great stage presence and knows how to work a crowd! I really hope he gets signed and puts out a CD! Then he sang one of my favorite performances of last season, even though it was only shown like less than a minute during Hollywood Week, “Georgia On My Mind.” He put on a hat and gave a soulful, great rendition of the Ray Charles classic. Then he sang “You Found Me” by The Fray, which sounded amazing and I even told him after the show. “I thought you did amazing. I don’t know what the judges were talking about when you sang You Found Me” on the show, because you sang it amazingly.” He smiled and said “thank you so much man and that one of the guys from The Fray was there during the concert and they loved it too!” Matt was such a class act and did a great job!
Then it was medley time. First was Megan and Lil singing some song I can’t remember the name of, something like “Can’t stop loving you” or something. They did good. Then it was Matt and Scott on dueling pianos singing “Tell Her About It” and the only thing I could think of is why did they cut that from the finale!? It was great! Then Michael sang “Suspicious Minds” followed by Anoop starting out on “Beggin” with the other three guys joining in as well. Then Lil followed, doing some cool rapping. And then Megan joined in. I have to say they all sounded really good here, and Matt is one heck of a dancer!

I was about to post this. The part that I love is that Matt said The Fray was there and told him they loved the version of the song. I guess we know why he has been happily tweeting about the fray. Happy for him.

ok - I'm just soo happy right now. Just got up, got a cup of coffee and sat down to catch up, since I was away from the computer yesterday afternoon & evening. These new reviews are so amazing. Reading about people finally really appreciating Matt is about the best thing in the world! The review from the Adam fan was impressive and I'm so pleased it was posted in the Idol forums cause there have been some snarky things written about Matt there in the past.

I really think we should all campaign for The Fray to invite Matt to open for them on tour! That would be a dream come true for Matt and a huge step towards a successful solo career! Now that they've seen Matt in action, they just need some prodding! Tweet The Fray!!

That would be quite the dream job for Matt, but I doubt it will happen so soon after the tour. Unless 19E decides to sign Matt to a record deal, I think it will be Kris who will most likey get to tour with The Fray. Isn't Joe King working with Kris right now and co-writing some songs for his solo album? And I think Ryan Tedder of One Republic was also supposed to be helping with Kris's CD?
Hopefully, Matt will get many opportunities to work with his other musical inspirations. I always thought it would be cool if Matt were to tour with Gavin DeGraw. Gavin seems like a cool guy, and his fans would love Matt's style! ( And I haven't heard anything about Gavin working with Kris/Adam/Allison.)
