Matt- Loved him. I liked him on the show, but now I’d buy his album tomorrow. Hard to Handle was a great song to begin the set. I was surprised he wasn’t playing piano, but then it raised up and he started pounding the keys Jerry Lee Lewis style. Georgia on My Mind was also a great throwback to his piano bar days. I felt like the energy dropped a little during You Found Me, but he regained it at the end with more mad piano playing. He got the biggest response from the crowd up to that point.
Ha-ha, it looks like Tampa might be Matt's favorite stop on the tour so far. He tweeted that he loved being at the beach, swimming, watching the sunset, etc. Also, he tweeted that he would like to go back there on a vacation. Then, to top it all off, he gets AWESOME gifts from Disney World-- the Mickey Mouse ears and this toy Tigger, dressed up in a fedora and scarf!
I bet Matt has received and will receive plenty of Disney related gifts on this tour! He'll have so many, he could open up his own Disney souvenir store! LOL
"Next, we hear the unmistakable opening of “Hard to Handle,” with some beatboxing thrown in for fun, and with that Matt Giraud erupts onto the stage. He tears through the Black Crowes classic, replacing the classic guitar solo with a boogie-style pounding of the grand piano that thrills the crowd. Next, he sits at the piano and catches his breath by talking for a few moments about his path to this point, before donning the fedora and singing “Georgia on My Mind,” even better than the Hollywood version that put him on the AI map, since we get to hear the whole song this time. Before he leaves, he sings his heart out on “You Found Me,” an understated performance on AI S8, although I do think that “Part Time Lovers,” or “Who’s Lovin You” would have been a tad more exciting as an exit song. Either way, the crowd LOVED Matt.
It’s refreshing to see a young singer who pours so much of himself into his performances, and he really seems to connect with fans. With decent material, I can totally see him having a successful music career.
Grade: A+…maybe the most underrated contestant in AI history, and absolutely fantastic to watch in person. He could have taken an hour and I’d be happy."
I'm back at the top of the rollercoaster again! And even the comments are almost completely in agreement with this reviewer. I love seeing the increased number of positive comments about Matt with each new recap on MJs. Matt gets as much good feedback as Kris and Allison, and maybe more than Danny, too. Hallelujah.
BTW: This reviewer gave each Idol a letter grade. Matt received the ONLY A+ of the entire group. Love it! Oh, and here's the link for the complete recap:

You beat me to this. I hate to generalize but I sometimes find male reviews somehow more objective. It's like they don't let their lust get in the way of objective evaluation. I especially love the line about how Matt pours himself so much into his performance. I think that isone of the things we love most about him.

Yes cecilie they are just average concert goers and AI fans but the majority of the reviewrs thus far have been hardcore Adam fans that didn't really like Matt until they saw him live so that's what is so great about these reviews.
