Keep on the lookout for Matt Giraud. While he has been in the bottom three this season, he’ll make a comeback for sure. He was my favorite contestant to chat with…just an all around nice, genuine guy.

On whether or not he’ll ever play Piano Man on the show:
“I don’t think you’re going to hear me do Piano Man ever on this show. No matter how much you tip me.”

On the experience:
“I’ve been preparing for this since forever. A couple years I would just stay up at night worrying about what I would sing and how great it would feel to make it to Hollywood or something like that. And it’s like here I am at the top. This is crazy.”

How he picks his songs:
“Pick the songs you’ve been doing forever and everyone’s like ‘Yea! I love it when you sing that!’”

What he does in his free time:
“I’m a mentor, Big Brother Big Sister. I play at my church. I have a snake. I take care of my python. I’m a pretty simple guy really. Not too exciting. I like Disney way too much.”

“Yea, from an outside point of view. She’s not really a huge musician type. But she knows about music and she knows what she likes and she’s usually right.”

“It’s kind of bad to listen to people at home because when you pick something good and then you talk to them and then they say, ‘I don’t like that song’ then it makes you really uncomfortable and you get really nervous. So you need people to say, Matt, whatever you pick, you got it. I don’t even want to talk to my family anymore about my songs. I’m just going to tell them, look it’s a surprise. Just watch the show.”

To answer your question megannn, the interview was April 19th (i looked at the actual article) so it was when he was still on the show..I figured it was old because he has said several times recently that he is single...After I read this though I got really sad for his girlfriend because now with all his success and everything she's gotta be really really sad about them not being together...especially since I had heard they were together for 3 yrs!

Yeah, I sadfaced too because seeing him speak so highly of her and about how great she was made me remember how much I liked her from the show (ep after she wore the Giraud Squad shirt) and How sad I was when I heard they had broken up...

Oh, duh there is a date on there But I agree.....I mean, I'm not gonna lie, it's nice to hear he's single but I actually did a little bit of stalking on his myspace and went back to his comments and obviously I couldn't read hers since her profile was private, but they seemed REALLY happy together and that he appreciated her support so much. There could have been many factors as to why they broke up....maybe after all this tour craziness simmers down, they'll start back up where they ended

Quintessential Matt. He's all man on stage yet he seems to be a playful prangster when he's not performing. I love his sensitivity......he must get it from his Dad. Remember when his Dad got all teary-eyed when he talked about how proud he was of Matt? Then Matt was teary when he was saved and then eventually voted off. A guy's guy with a soft side. LOVE that!
