It does sound like Matt is using a bit of exposure and access that he gained by doing AI to, in part, make a really great demo that clearly defines the direction he wants to go in and what he can do as an artist.
Whether said demo is at the request of a specific label or just a general demo to shop around, it's absolutely a good and necessary thing for him to have. It's smart of him to be getting it done quickly and I think it is a good sign of what might be in the works. I agree Slick! So i just found this on MJ's... - Quote :
- Jim Cantiello interviewed singer/songwriter Mat Kearney, who recently sat down with Idol winner Kris Allen for a songwriting session. Kearney had some nice things to say about Kris:
Kris and Kearney’s recording session was done in a rush, as Kris had to leave town quickly. With only a short amount of time to find a suitable recording studio to lay down a demo, they ended up recording in Kearney’s friend’s “‘ghetto’ makeshift home studio.” Kearney was amazed that Kris nailed it in one take. I posted this because it seems like Kris did the exact same thing as Matt is doing now. Kris wrote a song with another artist and then recorded a demo of it. So maybe this is how they do it. They write with someone, record the demo, and then probably get with the label once demos are done and choose which songs they are going to record for the CD. Hmmm don't know if this means anything because obviously he could be making a demo on his own or he could be making a demo under a label but for me this made me more hopeful but in the end for me music is the most important thing with or without a label. Of course I hope he is signed because it would make it easier for him but if he is not then I believe he is doing all the right things now and I am so excited to hear his music! | |
