| Didn't this guy not like Matt before? Well that seems to have changed since the tour! Love that Matt won so many people over! Matt is so amazing! He is like a lays potato chip seeing and hearing him perform once is simply not enough! http://twitter.com/jambajim - Quote :
- I'm sorry. No disrespect to Eric Hutchinson but if he has a record deal, how the hell does @ImMattGiraud not? #signMattGiraud
No matter what happens with the record deal Matt will be very successful! Wish he would announce the November date already!

Matt's reply tweet sounds encouraging... I know you guys! His reply made me so happy! I am sure by now great things are happening behind the scenes. I love the fact that Matt seems so happy and positive about his future! Can't wait till we hear the BIG NEWS. It will happen sooner or later. Hopefully it won't be so long!

| So, what do I do when I see a name I've never heard of? That's right, I researched this Eric Hutchinson character. I hope that tweet wasn't in offense to him, because he seems pretty deserving of a recording contract to me. I recognized his "Rock and Roll" song, and some of his other stuff seems pretty Mraz/DeGraw catchy, not bad at all. But the fact that the uber-critical Jim Cantiello threw out an unsolicited tweet for Matt like that is pretty damn cool. Perhaps his "favorites" have failed to impress them with their singles, so he's moving on to greener pastures? Hehe. | |

This sounds like my situation with Allison Aw, Lana, that sucks! But I understand: I was (probably naively) hoping for something more accessible from Allison, and instead it alienates lots of her Idol fans. I never thought of myself as THAT old until I heard her single. It's like, shave about 15 years off of me and put me in a middle school dance mosh pit, and that's how I'd identify with her song. Anyway, it seems like 19 is putting all their eggs in the Adam Lambert basket from what I've seen of promotion for Alli and Kris, along with all these things lined up for Adam (soundtracks, AMA appearance, every "top" writer/producer in the biz working on his album). They are determined to make him epic. Hope that works out for them! I've said it before and I'll say it again: bullet dodged, Matt.

What if Matt didn't dodge a bullet - what if he stopped the gun from even firing? I wouldn't be at all surprised if Matt was already approached with a deal from 19E and turned it down due to lack of creative control. We would certainly never hear about that if it happened - either from Matt or 19E. Pure speculation on my part - but you never know. Fun to ponder

Fun to ponder I don't think Matt can refuse signing with 19E if they wanted him. I don't think they have to go with 19 management but 19 records has first dibs on them. Maybe it's different if they don't win but I thought they all had to sign the same contract.

| To passnthru and Jenna:
See, I keep juggling two thoughts around in my head.
1. After the original contracts expired back on August 20th, 19 revisited offering Matt some slightly different contract. Since it was outside of the original contract, he tried to negotiate something more favorable to him, but 19 wouldn't agree to it and sent him on his way.
2. I've never gotten a real answer on whether 19 can manage an Idol without them having a recording contract, but IF THAT'S POSSIBLE, perhaps Matt is being managed by them somehow, and that's why he's getting all these great gigs (NOT to say he couldn't be getting them on his own, but it's just me speculating).
I often get waves of thinking that 19 is still in the picture simply because of what Matt said about being in talks with them in an interview. But, that was well over a month ago, and it could have passed. But I still think there were at the very least some negotiations between the two parties at one point. Gray area, and I'm sure we'll never know what actually went down, but still.......
(Err, and sorry for steering this thread completely off-course! Old habits die hard.)
