CALENDONIA -- Kalamazoo's Matt Giraud, a Top Five finalist in the most recent season of "American Idol," will play two concerts -- at 3:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. -- on Nov. 21 at Cornerstone Church, 1675 84th St. SE.

The concerts are part of Cornerstone's grand opening weekend for its new church, with an open house from 4 to 8 p.m. that day.

General admission concert tickets, $10, go on sale at 8 a.m. Oct. 26 at Cornerstone's 84th Street and Kalamazoo Avenue SE location.

As previously announced, the singer also will perform in concert at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 29 at the Forest Hills Fine Arts Center, 600 Forest Hill Ave. SE. Tickets for that show are $18, $22 and $24; they go on sale to the general public at 9 a.m. Oct. 26. Information online at fhfineartscenter.com.

Giraud also is appearing in Detroit this weekend as part of the "Soap Stars Live & Unscripted" event at the Masonic Temple Theatre at 8 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday. Fourteen actors from several popular TV soap operas will be on hand; Giraud is billed as a "special guest star."

ughhh..well I won't be going to the Nov show cuz I have to work that weekend and no way I can get off so is anyone else wondering what songs he might sing and do you think they will be any different since he is playing at a church??..I personally have been loving some of his older songs lately from his Mind, Body and Soul album so I can really appreciate Matt's spiritual side too. Well at least I still have the Jan show to look forward to and its gonna be so EPIC!! I hope someone will be able to record this Nov show(s) though!

Hmmm maybe that is the news tomorrow he is going on a nationwide tour?

That would be great news, but I always thought you only went on tour if you had a CD to promote.

You can still book gigs across the country and "tour" if you have a handful of original songs and a few great covers. I think a lot of new unsigned artists do that, just to promote themselves. That would be a swwweeeeeeeet announcement! I could totally see him doing that.

Yes, IMO this is exactly what he should do. He needs to keep his name out there and people interested Especially if he is not signed.

Can't wait for morning never thought I'd hear myself say that!

If it's a nationwide tour that's coming, I really hope he's opening for someone like Gavin DeGraw or The Fray! Or maybe I'm dreaming... Fingers crossed!

I guess he could do that...
But... I am sure hoping will get signed pretty soon! I have a feeling he will give us a hint about a record deal tomorrow!

That would be just perfect route,doing solo concerts across the country. It would make the fans very happy and he certainly would get new people on board everywhere.

Now that his Nov concert is "officially" announced, who is DEFINITELY going to this show??? And which time or both? I'm debating on if I wana spend the extra, non existant money I have to go or suck it up and wait til Jan. Plus, the only way I can go is if I can find someone to carpool with......

I would love to go, but just not possible. I sure hope Matt does tour nationwide, cuz I need him to come south! Concerts in Michigan just aren't feasible for me - i already did one and the hubby thinks I'm half crazed -- well I am but what's so wrong about that !!!
