RADIO REQUESTS !!!!

(9/20/2010): After a few days at #24, "Thank You" is back at #23 but still battles strong competition. We need to request it A LOT and SOON! Would you send out emails today? Let's do what we can and hopefully prevent the song from sliding down the ranks. Thank you!!

I am concerned that "Thank You" could be flattening out, so it is really important to get as many people requesting as possible, and geographically distributed. Some of the stations playing "Thank You" played it less last week, so we particularly need to request at the stations where the song has been added.

Here are ones that are barely playing "Thank You" (0-3 times per week):
Wichita, KS (1 time), Portsmouth, NH (2), Monterey-Salinas, CA (2), Jackson, MS (3), Huntsville, AL (3)

Here are additional stations that played it less this past week than the week before:
Chattanooga, TN, Shreveport, LA, Toledo, OH, Grand Rapids, MI (WLHT), Columbia, SC

Also, I discovered a few other stations that are playing "Thank You" but haven't added it, so please request there:
Pittsburgh, PA, Norfolk, VA, Denver, CO, Lansing, MI

And also keep sending requests to Detroit, MI (WNIC) and Columbus, OH (Sunny 95).

We are going to proceed with the radio requests in a more effective way from here on. Rather than requesting “Thank You” from just any AC/Top 40 station out there as we have been doing the past few days, we’d like you to concentrate on the AC stations that are on Mediabase.

From Wikipedia: “Mediabase is a music industry website containing in-depth charts and analysis based on the monitoring of 1,836 radio stations in the US and Canada, in 175 radio markets.” So, how many times the Mediabase monitored AC stations play Matt's song will determine where he places on the AC chart.

Hi to all Matt fans! I took it upon myself to post a list of select Top 40 and AC radio stations where we can request Matt’s single with Jim Brickman, "Thank You". Please post other radio stations that you know especially in Michigan, so we can add them to the list.

These stations won’t be able to play a song unless it’s been officially added to their playlist. Should your radio station not have the song, please email TMVanickAsst@me.com and she'll get it to them.

Clicked on the top link and then clicked on the song... The preview if that's what it was sounded great... To me I only hear Matt.. It sounds like a great song and I hope this will help put Matt back on the map again and expand his fanbase more.

I happened to catch on twitter that a Kalamazoo station was playing "Thank You" so I checked it out. I heard it!!! The only vocal on the whole song is Matt -- maybe Jim sings back up? Lots of piano, but probably all Jim. Matt sounds really great.


I also noticed that the song was already added by a Hartford station and has been played 7 times.

I had trouble too, because I didn't have the right default set up for the mediabase player. What helped me was that someone posted the exact link:


mms://206.53.211.116/verifiedwma/1738412.wma


I then opened this with QuickTime, but you may have some other application you use for audio/video. If you happen to be using a Mac, if you type this link into your browser, it should either know how to play .wma files or will prompt you. I think Windows machines are the same, but I haven't used one in a while.

I'm curious. How did you contact your stations? I contacted three local stations yesterday by sending them email. I haven't heard back, and sort of doubt I will. So I am curious whether you did something differently to get a response. Did you call them?


My plan is to monitor adds and keep sending them requests if they don't add it. If they do add it, my plan is to request it. But this is completely uncharted territory for me so I am hoping to learn what other people do that might be more effective.

HEY GUYS! URGHHH sorry I haven't been around. I haven't had a computer because my desk collapsed. I tried connecting it last night but I discovered my dogs chewed the power cord! So right now all I have is my phone and it's kind of a pain in the butt to use but I had to post about Matt's amazing song! I absolutely love it! I am praying he gets recognition for it. I hope when the DJ's announce it they say Jim Brickman with Matt Giraud. How exciting for us and Matt! I am so happy for him!

Just thought I throw this out there...DJ's hate spam and unfortunately get mad at an artist when their fans spam them (ask Adam) so IMO we should only request the song in our own areas. Also I wouldn't request it more than once a day! I will definitely be requesting it in Cleveland tomorrow.

Hey, Jenna!! I'm sorry to hear about your computer troubles. Yes, definitely, we don't want to spam the DJs. When I emailed the Michigan stations I mentioned I was requesting for Matt's Michigan fans (since I'm not from there).

One of my local stations replied to say they're aware of the song and are considering it for their playlist. Monitoring the actual adds and plays is difficult unless it shows up on the mediabase site that csprof posted. I wonder if all stations are monitored there.

It'd be great if people can request locally and then help in other cities/states, esp. Michigan without pretending to be from there if they're not.

csprof, that's a really good strategy. The monitoring of adds and plays is a real challenge. Do you know if all stations, even small ones, are covered by Mediabase?

I'm not sure whether there are stations not covered by Mediabase. I saw on Mediabase that there are 94 AC stations on Mediabase so we ought to find them and target them. Maybe I can try to figure that out later tonight from the Mediabase website.

There are folks over at MJs that know everything, and I got the info on monitoring from Kirsten who posts a Mediabase-related thread on MJs every Monday. Kirsten will know, for sure.

I don't know how many Danny Gokey fans we have over here, but one on MJs said that Danny fans tend to either like Matt's music or at least like Matt because he is such a good friend to Danny so would probably be happy to help. I have a sense there are a bunch of Kris and Anoop fans who feel the same way. Maybe we can tap into those groups too? Anyone know how to do that?
