Well, Team Matt did pretty well today!

On such a big day in Matt's career, he needs positive feedback. Please go add a comment to the MJ thread above. Most of the comments are positive, but some aren't and there were only 20 last time I looked.

Hey guys just a thought... Matt added Thank You to his myspace player and it is also now up on Youtube lets try and get the plays up! Warm 98 in Cincinnati finally added it yesterday!

I called to request it on Monday but I didn't hear it played at all. So I wrote on their Facebook wall lol. I haven't heard it on the radio yet but a friend of mine said she heard it Tuesday night!. I'm so excited!

I happened to come across the following on the 99.9 Phoenix station website, where Jim Brickman is co-hosting this week:

It's a plug for "Thank You", and they say there will be "an announcement" on Friday morning's show. Since the entire segment is about the song, I would imagine the announcement will be too!

SOMEHOW we have to train these DJs to say GIRAUD, and not Gerard or Girode!

EDIT: Matt was interviewed, and they played the song. It was a cute interview that covered his love life, AI, his female fans, Adam, and working with Jim. The DJ said her listeners love the new song, and it is already a hit. I liked the part where she asked him if he had heard his song playing on the radio. He said he was driving in his car, and it came on the radio. He sounds so excited, and I am excited for him. What a great find - I am quite impressed on your internet prowess. I'm sorry to have missed this interview - did Matt say anything new? Also totally agree on your grade for the photo on their website - HYELAW was one of my favorite photo nights.

There were a few new things from Matt's Phoenix interview. He was asked about how the song came about, and he gushed about how honored he was to be invited to work with Jim. The DJ and Matt talked about how well the song was doing and Matt seemed very excited about that, and said he was happy it was playing on Top40 as well as AC. The DJ told Matt her listeners love the song, love his voice, said he sounded like John Mayer, and that the song was going to be a hit, etc. etc. Matt was so flattered to be compared to John Mayer. Jim very sweetly told Matt the song sounded great, which I found touching.

The other stuff in the interview was not particularly new, but some of it was cute. Matt was charming and funny. It was great exposure.

I really quite accidentally heard this interview. I was getting ready for work and decided to tune into the radio station because Jim was co-hosting and I was hoping he'd promote the song. I probably listened for 5 minutes when Matt came on. I had no idea he was going to be interviewed.

Things seem to be going very well with this song, and I am so happy for Matt (and us!).


EDIT: Jim's announcement today was for a Holiday Concert in Phoenix, and didn't have to do with the song or Matt. :-( But I did get to hear "Thank You" today, and more gushing about Matt's voice by the DJ.

Funnymonkie, I'm sorry the Milwaukee station is not playing "Thank You". At least they added it and are responding to you because I am not having any luck at all with my local stations. I think you could try again once the song gets a little more traction in other markets.

Here's some good news, at least for folks in Louisiana.

I sent an email to the contact info that mattyfan posted for 99.9 in Lafayette, LA. According to their playlist, they have been playing "Thank You" every day. So, I sent the following note to them:

THANK YOU for playing new song "Thank You" by Jim Brickman featuring Matt Giraud on your station this week. I love Matt's voice, and I hope to keep hearing it on my radio.


And received the following response:

This is incredible! The song hasn't even been out a week!

Here's the updated numbers, and now the song is in AC Top 40!!!

The first two numbers are last week's and this week's ranking on the chart. The second two are last week's and this week's number of spins, and the difference between these is next (29). 19 is how many stations are playing the song, and 2.5 says that each station is playing it roughly 2.5 times as compared to 0.9, which is number of spins lw divided by current number of stations. The final number is the difference between 2.5 and 0.9, and a positive number indicates the song is getting increased radio play.

Here's a link so everyone can watch. They seem to update a few times a day. AC plays a lot of different songs, so spin counts are low. Matt is at 47 spins now and is currently ranked 37 in AC. It takes about 200 spins per week to make the Top 20 and 1000 spins to make the Top 10. If Matt is already at 47 spins with less than a week, I think he ought to get up to Top 20 in a few weeks!!! Top 10 will be a whole lot harder, but would be awesome. This is very, very exciting for Matt.

Wow, Go Matt!! I did try reaching out to a couple of radio stations in my area....the program director at 100.7 WLEV n Allentown said that they might play it on a certain DJ's show if I called to request.

csprof you have been invaluable. I've been through this before as an Elliott Yamin fan.....it's a lot of work and a lot of looking at numbers....but he's a perfect example of how the fans can really make a difference (he eventually made it to #3 with Wait for You)!

Oh wow I am so excited for Matt! Number 37...AMAZING!!!!!! LOL I started crying from happiness. Yes I am that crazy!!! I am so proud of him and proud to be a fan from the beginning! He is incredible!

I have been calling and emailing 2 AC stations in cleveland 102.1 FM and 106.5 FM. But so far neither stations have it If you live close to cleveland please call and email program director those two staions! Thanks!

Jim Brickman was on a Memphis radio station today. The interview can be found on the home page of WRVR, http://www.wrvr.com/. Jim only talks about "Thank You" for the last 60 seconds. He is very complimentary to Matt, and his voice. This looks like a good station to request to play the song if anyone lives around Memphis.

It's useful that both Matt and Jim are plugging this song. Both of them were interviewed today in different parts of the country.
