Rethinking the #SignMattGiraud Strategy...

I don't know about you guys, but it is quite a downer to spend several hours on Twitter repeatedly tweeting in an attempt to trend #SignMattGiraud and yet, to no avail.

It makes you wonder...what good can come from being a trending topic? Is it really worth my effort to drop my life, quit eating and ignore my husband/family/friends to get these three simple words to appear on the sidebar of Twitter?

I am ALL for supporting the talented Matt Giraud! You guys know that. But I've now come to the conclusion that trending #SignMattGiraud once, was enough. I believe there are other ways that we can spend our time more wisely (and productively!) and I was hoping we could discuss those here!

Just to share a few ideas, I was thinking we could definitely continue the #SignMattGiraud movement by adding (#signmattgiraud) to all of our comments we leave on Youtube, blogs, etc. For example - how cool would it be to go watch a Matt video and see #SignMattGiraud all over the comment section? I've already seen a few people leave this on there so far - but if we could spread the word around it could have a great impact! Also if you comment on forums and blogs (such as MJs and Rickey's) at the end of your comment just add a simple: #signmattgiraud. It can become a little movement of The Giraud Squad and maybe in return, people will begin discussing it on Twitter...and perhaps it could trend on it's own! (That would be the day, huh?!)

Anyway, those are a few suggestions...feel free to throw out some more!

Good idea![: I mean, Twitter works well, and we can still add #SignMattGiraud to the end of out tweets, especially if your tweets are public. People will see them. We should most definitely not stop there, just have to add to it, ya know?

I know we always comment/rate/send Matt's youtube videos to friends and family.

Any news articles on we should definitely comment with how much we want him signed. If you haven't already, put Matt Giraud on Google Alerts. :] I'm sure most of us have.

I know if we have posters, or promo cards we can print them out and put them around your town. Some places like coffee shops/libraries/etc. will allow posters to be hung if you ask politely.

Well there are 15 more shows to go on the AI tour then Matt will be on his own. I kind of wish Matt would get more involved and let us know what he'd like for us to do. It seems like right now we need to do the whole grassroots campaign but this really is hard to do without a product to push. Really right now outside of the internet there is not much we can do without a product. I guess we can continue talking about him to family and friends, voting on polls, increasing his myspace plays, and just all around showing him our support. I still think the whole CD burning thing is a good idea but no one seemed to get behind this so it kind of went to the wayside. We need to try and get organized and create a plan especially for when he releases something. Without label support Matt and his fans have a lot of work to do. I hope Matt starts blogging or sets up an official website somewhere. Hell I'll turn mine over to him and he can do what he wants with it. Re-design it completely and even change the name to his official website. He just needs somewhere we can go to find information. I have to say I am still praying he gets signed! Then he will get the fancy website, the heavy promotion, and all the trimmings.

I am all for any idea that would help in supporting Matt. I agree, that the trending might just be too difficult. Especially, when so many people were doing it and it didn't work Though, the last time #signmattgiraud trended, it did get mentioned in some articles and even Matt himself said it was good to show the record labels some buzz etc (by having it trend) So it did do something. The best would be if it could trend on its own without people having to do it over an over, and giving up their night for it... What I really wish is that he would just be signed already... I really don't understand why he isn't. He is getting the best reviews on tour and his set is by far the best. He is such a natural on stage. I would think he would be every labels dream- He can write his own songs, play piano and drums, would put on an amazing live show... They need to get on it already!

I agree with you guys about the trending topic. I mean the effort we all put into I think definitely is noticed and creates a lot of buzz for Matt. Idk if you guys have noticed, but everytime we try to trend #signmattgiraud a celebrity either steps up to help, or tweets something to Matt! the most exciting was the other night when that writer tweeted Matt about writing for him but I just feel like every time we try to trend #signmattgiraud again and fail, it dimishes a little the time we succeeded at it. I will continue to put #signmattgiraud at the end of my tweets, and I usually add #signmattgiraud at the end of my youtube comments and will continue to do this on other blogs if I post.

I agree with Jenna that I wish Matt would tell us what he wants us to do (LOL make it easy for us here man) but until then I will contiune voting in polls, and doing my best to spread the word

I'm glad this was brought up, as I mentioned this in another post: It's time to move on from the #signmattgiraud Tweet-a-thons. It was a great idea and the first time it worked was amazing....but I just feel that there's no point in doing so anymore. Maybe we should trend some other catchy phrase about Matt, or just up the amount that we talk about "Matt Giraud" and get his name to trend that way...

I've seen lots of comments saying "When is Matt gonna get signed??" which is great, we should continue to ramp up the responses like that whenever there are Matt-related articles. Heck, maybe we should even post about Matt on other Idols' articles...I know I see that all the time. Just help spread the word

Just wanted to say that I'm ready and willing to do whatever I CAN to further Matt's career...I'm sure eventually like Jason Castro and other idols before him there will be street teaming teams set up and such put together more when Matt knows more and I'm sure other stuff will come together as far as details for his official website and all of that once he is done with American Idol...my only limitation is technology...I don't have a computer at home and can't burn CD's and all of that but I can sure help pass them out where ever and when ever...I believe in Matt Giraud with my whole soul and heart forever and will do whatever it takes to help him succeed!!!

Thanks Lana, Sheesh guess my new glassess aren't working so hot!! I voted about 25 times but gonna go back as Danny is winning! NOOOOOOOOO!!

OH Yaaaa...I forgot to add to my other post...Chris Daughtry is going to be playing at our Coliseum in my town of Fort Wayne, IN on Oct 26th and I live right across the street from the coliseum so if someone wants to send me CD's of matt then I would be more then willing to pass them out to people either before or after the concert...let me know if anyone wants me too do this???.....being that Chris was a former Idol I think this would be a great place to pass some out of Matt! just thinkin....

I just spent several minutes on there voting as fast as I could (you don't even have to wait for the numbers to show - just keep pressing vote and vote again. I got Matt from 34% to 36%!

Oh wait...I just went back and he was at 34% again and the total number of votes had dropped since I was there before. I'm thinking this isn't real???

Last time I checked, Matt was winning, yay!! Personally I think the question is a no-brainer!
