| Slezak is so awesome. This time he mentioned Matt in his review for Kris Allen's new video "Live Like We Are Dying". Check this out: - Quote :
- But since I’ve already boarded the Idol Crazy Train, let me
just say that I also like to think that Kris’ stand-and-play moment is an homage to fellow season eighter Matt Giraud’s “Hard to Handle” from last summer’s Idols Live Tour. (#signmattgiraud) You can read the whole article here: http://music-mix.ew.com/2009/11/06/kris-allen-live-like-were-dying-video/ I am so stoked for Slezak's support! I can tell he won't stop until Matt is signed! And sooner or later it will happen. I can imagine the party Slezak is going to throw when the good news finally comes someday. Anyways.. Just wanted to share this!

| Homage?? Nice way of putting it. Stand and play..... Ha..... I've been petty much against him the whole time, so nothing he does looks good to me, but still.... Even now, this guy still does these things that inevitably remind me of Matt. I don't know why but this kind of thing just buggs me to no end. And the video itself is a total copy of coldplay's speed of light, playing in the dark with all the lightings in the background... duh...
This was the first time I listened to this song, and it is exactly the type of song I despise. No melody, no harmony, but just one same note from beginning to end. It sounds like he's almost rapping at one point.... Uh...
If music can lose one component it should be beat. Melody and harmony alone are enough to make great music. But what's happening to today's music? They repeat a short catchy easy stupid savy for 3+ minutes and depend the rest of the song on the beat with ridiculous rap and mouthfull of lyrics. And Kris Allen's song is just that. This kind of music is the reason why I lose so much interest in music... There is no melody in it. I mean, how can you repeat same 'C' note for 8 straight phrases and call it a song? C'mon, I even get more great harmonies in some electronic songs than this. The great Kurt Cobain once said that the music is all about melody, without melody it's not even music, which I happened to agree 100%.
Anyhow, thanks to Slazek for still trying to put Matt's name out there.

| I just saw Kris's video. A big problem I see there is how much of a copycat the whole thing seems: the song itself and the video are all so reminiscent of stuff we've seen and heard from The Fray and One Republic. Can't he have his own identity?!!! | |

| Oh come on you guys! I just posted this thread to show how much of a supporter Matt has in Slezak! I think it's great he mentions #signmattgiraud in every way he can! Hopefully someday those major labels finally wake up regarding Matt! Also IMO we shouldn't be jealous of the other signed idols. They are doing well with their music and Matt is happy for them. So we should also be happy for them too. Matt's time will come one day, I think it will be quite a while until he gets signed , but it will happen! | |

| It's very difficult and rare for someone to be completely original these days. Hell, I can almost guarantee you that Matt's gonna grab things from other artists too. That's just what happens when the music world grows and grows, eventually you're gonna come across less and less people who are totally brand new. Doesn't make them any less talented IMO. If the music's still good, I still dig it. As for the original topic...I love me some Slezak, yo. | |

Please don't generalize. I liked the song. The Fray and One Republic are 2 of my favorite bands. For a debut single, I just expected a tiny bit more from the Top 4. All their songs are very "safe" - like tried and tested. I'm sure they'll do great on sales and even the charts. Cheers to them! Awesome how Sleazak continues to keep the Matt-love alive! He's a hero (even though he bashed Matt dearly while he was on the show - boo).

| I didn't see anyone bashing another idol...just expressing their opinion about their music. I guess we all have different likes and dislikes. Lumma I totally agree with what you said about music today especially the music played on top 40. Whenever I listen to the radio I always find myself asking what in the hell happened to music? It's completely discouraging. I hope Matt is able to stick with his plan of not selling out and releasing good music. I know he has it in him to release amazing music but at what cost? I really want Matt to release music that is more creative, with meaningful lyrics, and great melody but on the same hand I worry that if his music is too artistic then it won't get radio play. It's like you have to put out a crap song that sounds like it is coming out of a synthisizer (rather than actual instruments)and from a 12 year old in order for it to get played. Like Matt said this is a hard business! I can't wait until Nov 21st so we can finally hear his music! | |
