Past Idols on Broadway??

...Hey, did you guys know that Taylor Hicks is ALSO now doing Broadway Theatre stuff (I think something in Grease?...OH Wait a minute no, that's Ace Young) and then acrourse we know Clay Aikens and his Spamalot ....Constatine in his rock-n-roll show thingy... ughhhh..So anyways, not that I'm against Broadway or anything but why are all these idols falling back on this after they don't make a go of it in music???? I mean Yes, Clay has put out a few good albums but he isn't exactly busting up the charts anymore! I think the thing that scares me about this "trend" is that one interviewer asked Matt the other day if he would ever do Broadway??? and he said YES, he would be down with that...and I was like NOOOO MATT..he has way to much going on to ever be stuck on Broadway the rest of his life...seriously! With Matt's awesome funny personality I can see him being tempted to do this stuff but I just sooo hope he doesn't ever go in this direction??!! What do you guys think of this???

I got to see Taylor in Grease here in Seattle. He is in the touring company. He was Teen Angel and I will say there seemed to be a lot of Taylor fans because it was sold out for almost the entire 6 weeks here. and Lots of screaming when he came on stage. They ad libbed an idol line into the dialogue-- it was funny! He is kind of goofy in it--

Don't like Constantine-- he kind of seems icky to me-- sorry Connie fans.

Don't forget Fantasia in The Color Purple and Syesha in Dreamgirls, Diana DeGarma in Hairspray....

Sounds like a good gig if you can get it. I'm sure Matt is not seriously thinking of Broadway, though I could see him in some sort of musical comedy.

I think given past experience, these Idols realize that they just might end up doing Broadway someday in the future. Possibly and likely for the lack of other options and the need to earn a living. So now I've noticed that when asked this question, Idols now say "Yes, I would love to try Broadway someday." David Cook even went as fas as saying it's one of his goals! This way, down the road if they do end up in Broadway, they won't look desperate. JMHO.

I agree - never close any doors. I personally don't think Matt's voice or style is terribly suited for Broadway - as opposed to Adam for example- but it is smart to seem open to any musical options.

I think for him to make it in the music business and be taken serious he needs to put out music first! Record. It's now or never.
No Broadway please! Besides, I am sorry but I can't stand Taylor Hicks, and I don't know how he won, Chris should have won but AI sometimes it's about popularity. I also hate Constantine. So please don's compare Matt with those kind of Idols. I think Matt with the right material can sell really well, just like Cookie.

I am so excited about the latest reviews from Memphis! Music people are getting interested in Matt Yay.
I just hope we get some kind of news after Aug 20th. I just have this feeling it will happen!

Matt doing Broadway? Not really I rather see Matt do music but if not music I think Matt should have his own sitcom cause he is so funny!

Calm down, Matt's not going into Broadway. Breathe! His music career will happen. It's the only thing he wants to do. The only question is how hot it will be.
