Promoting Matt - let's brainstorm here!

Now that all the Top 4 have been signed and our Matt is still not under a label, can we please brainstorm some ideas/ways to help promote and do something to help? I know there is only so much we can do, but lets try to shake some waters and spread the #signmattgiraud movement!

I just noticed that Matt changed his website link on Twitter from his Facebook fanpage to his Myspace page? Perhaps someone filled him in that getting plays on Myspace is important to record labels? I don't know...maybe we can set up some shifts where we just go and play Matt's music on his page for a certain length of time? Just an idea!

Ok...sorry. This is how I am trying to deal with it myself! Thinking what can I do to make this happen for Matt? It was obviously going to be a tougher road for him anyway, just because he placed 5th, but I thought that with the tour reviews coming in putting Matt way above Danny and the others...he would've been a prospect for 19. Although, I am pretty content with 19 passing him by...he'll get a better deal with other labels!

Think of it this way, at least Danny wasn't signed by another competitive label. So now this leaves more room for Universal or Atlantic to sign MATT!

I'm a Castro fan - and I have a few more dedicated Dreadhead buddies that can testify better than I - but, they made sure to play Jason's music on his Myspace page, they watched all of his youtube videos and commented on them (plus Jason helped by putting up new videos every Tuesday to keep his fans "in the loop"). With the existence of Twitter now, Matt is using his every resource to stay in touch with the fans...I think we need to be doing a better job at spreading the word. If you aren't on Facebook, join facebook and get involved on commenting on his fanpage! If you aren't signed up on Youtube, make sure you are so you can leave a comment, rate and favorite Matt videos!

Oh I agree! I never wanted Matt signed to 19Evil but it is kind of a slap in the face. LOL guess that is a little silly but damnit he is so talented and deserves to be signed! I guess we just have to be patient and believe he will be signed soon. I am holding onto this. He is way too talented to be passed by.

I agree.. I dunno how Danny did over Matt! Anyway we need new ideas b/c that is the reality and we have to deal with it lol gr. I've been tweeting other celebs too when i post #signmattgiraud to hopefully get some attention.. as if they see my tweets anyway but we can hope! I'll def. do the myspace thing. Trending does come up in interviews i've heard them give him props for the time he was 3rd thanks to us.. so it is helping!

We could maybe write to them and sign out names as a petition straight to them or individually to tell personal thoughts etc.

Hmm.. we do need to think out of the box.. im not that "creative" though.. something to make them go wow he has a big dedicated fan base already so lets sign him! Ill keep thinkingggg

We can start by spreading the word to chant "Sign Matt Giraud" in the Grand Rapids COncert! Please everyone who is going spread the word!
This would be so awesome if the whole stadium would scream those words for him! Then the morning after all the media would report it..

Gosh Matt has just got to get signed by another major soon! I am just a bit sad tonight that he got passed for Danny. I am sorry but 19 will regret this decision in the future.

Hey Tara! So glad you joined here to support Matt! We definitely need some new creative ways to get his name out there. I know we have creative folks in the Giraud Squad, so I am ready for all the ideas to come pouring in. Myspace plays are good, Youtube comments/ratings/favoriting videos is always a plus.

Hm, I was thinking...Matt needs an "official website." I know it may be something he'll figure out after tour though. I bet he's stuck in the middle right now thinking "Ok...am I going to have to go ahead and start taking the indie approach do things myself? Or wait a little while to see if I get signed."

If you think about it, we're kinda the same way. We don't know when we should begin taking the initiative and actually start promoting Matt hard-core grassroots-style. I think we should start now. There are only 11 shows left on the tour! Can you believe it?

Yes! This would be amazing! What a great way to make a POINT! Especially for his hometown - there should be more involvement! Spread the word on Twitter...but be careful not to let Matt see, just in case the plan does fall through...which I pray it won't.

I'm all for chanting signmattgiraud at Grand Rapids. Maybe if we get to the show early we can pass out little flyers about chanting this during one of his songs. Maybe YFM. Or just pass it on by word of mouth. I know eight of us are going from here plus Janizzle.

I think the BEST time to start the chant would be after Hard to Handle - the energy is HIGH and then it goes semi-quiet right before he sings Georgia! It would be easier to begin the chanting off the energy of Hard to Handle, I think. While everyone is up on their feet and loud - might as well start CHANTING "SIGN MATT GIRAUD!! SIGN MATT GIRAUD"

That's a good idea Cacity.

We have to get the word out quickly, the shows in days. Make the flyers ASAP. I wish I could go but I cant . The chant would be better than "SAVE, SAVE, SAVE" even though that was epic!

BTW, Isn't that toolong of a word to chant though? Sign HIM! would be simpler, and not many people would get tired of chanting it...just a thought.

I wondering if word of mouth would be better. Some people may not even read the flyer. So everyone going to the concert go early especially to the buses because those are the fans that are hardcore and will more likely pick up the chant.

Ok, I am spreading the word now. I know one friend is going to try and share it with some family and friends in the hometown. This will be BIG if it works! Oh gosh, how I WISH I was going to be there! I would be chanting like CRAZY for sure!!

The big thing right now...is try and keep it quiet from Matt! We don't want him to know about it and be disappointed if it fails. So please don't put his twitter name in a sentence when you spread it on there.

And actually, I just got word that flyers he would probably find out about. So, that might not be the best idea. Word of mouth would work best...we just have to make sure those that are going will be intentional about spreading the word to those around you! Get there early even just to spread the word.

Can you imagine if all of Matt's fans pulled together and did this?! How awesome would that be?! The media would have a FIELD day! Speaking of which...do you think we could involve people like Michael Slezak, Andrew Cook, Kris, Adam, etc. in on the plan or am I just way out of line here? I'm also noticing that this board is getting new members rather quickly! C'mon y'all....let's all pull together! I'll do anything for that man.
