Then, one of the nicest surprises: piano man Matt Giraud's set. Opening with a brave, sizzling cover of Otis Redding's "Hard to Handle," Giraud came on like a young, jazzier Jerry Lee Lewis, then followed up with a "Georgia" rich in bluesy keyboard stylings — and devoid of the pitchiness and vocal overkill of Giraud's TV turns. All that singing obviously paid off for the guy, who exhibited an ease onstage few of his comrades matched.
By the end of his set, though, Lambert's shtick felt a bit too predictable in its conscious excessiveness
One little line of criticism - I bet there will be a meltdown -- can't wait. I'm gonna make some popcorn right now!
You are so right about the criticism! Read the comments - the Glamberts are out in full force. Its funny, because several weren't even at the concert. 14/17 reviews start bashing the author about the Adam comments. Hilarious.

I'm not sure where to put this - it's a fun interview a Seattle station with several of the idols. Goofy questions, kinda baffled idols. Fun.
It was in Washington, when they met with the press, so I'm putting it with the Tacoma tour stuff.
OMG that was so funny! I loved when Matt said I'm not saying nothing...fake tan. They all were so cute! I hate to say this but I am beginning to love me some Danny! I love Matt, Anoop, and Danny together so funny! Thanks for posting Flicker!

Ok karma is probably going to get me for this but I have to say I smiled when I read her critique of Adam because she is absolutely one hundred percent right! Adam is all one big giant act! And it get's old fast!
Loved her review of Matt!

You can barely see him in most of the video but you can hear him. He's talking to a little boy - its really cute. I think this is the same little boy that has a video where he is singing Matt's my idol in a fedora. I believe he's the son of one of the FTL's or BG's.
And Jenna - look, I got the video to work!

The audio on You Found Me video is pretty awful but it sounds to me like Matt is singing it more in his natural, relaxed tone, rather than the gravelly version before. This should please the critics! I think choosing this current song was a smart move from Matt!

LOL it sounds like a cellcert but I could hear it well enough. Just wondering where is he out of tune because I didn't hear it in the Georgia video or this one? Sometimes I wonder why I torture myself with reading over at MJ's?

Awww well at least you got to see Matt!! It's sooo exciting to hear about all your encounters with him!! Keeps my hopes up high Now I know you didn't leave the concert early to head out to meet everyone afterwards, so did you head out as soon as they were finished? How many others were there already out there?
Hi megannn, we went out as soon as the finale song ended. I wasn't sure about the greeting area so wanted to see the entire show. There were maybe 100-150 when we got there and ended up being around 300 or so (according to news report). It is very hard to get a pic w/idol after show. You can get autographs if you are up front. They pretty much just walk down a line and sign away. You can snap pics but they rarely stop and pose. It is a better idea to go to meet the busses during the afternoon. Different idols come out and they take more time- more able to pose and chat. Hope you get a pic w/Matt. He is truly handsome!

While I was waiting for your news I've been reminiscing and waching old AI videos lol Can't wait for your part 2
Hey cecilie, I waited as long as I could for you! Keep watching the videos and twitpics-- there are some really great ones coming on there now. Did you see the great video of georgia? Matt was awesome on that!!

Maybe I'm looking too hard, but does Matt have a "handler" in this video? Could he be moving into the Lambert/Allen realm?

Hi sgr91--Last night at the after show signing they each had someone walking with them shining a flashlight on the ground and whatever they were autographing. It was very dark back behind the dome, there are no lights and you could barely see where you were going. At least that was what I saw. Each idol had 1 person with them. Scott also had his brother with him. But, I think as this tour progresses and we keep seeing Matt doing so well he just may need that handler!

Matt: THIGHS! THIGHS! THIGHS! WUT? During "Hard To Handle" he was playing the piano standing up and I just know everyone's thoughts was "THIIIIIIIIGHS! ASSSSSS! THIIIIIIGHS!"
I really liked "You Found Me" because it showcased not only his ~mad piano skilllz~ but his vocal range. I really think he's improved since the show. I ended up hardcore fangirling him by the end of his set.
All Matt fans will be happy to know that when his piano came up through the floor, it had his fedora on it and he put that on before "Georgia On My Mind" saying "This is for all my fans!" (the fedora I presume lol)

Ha-ha! I love how this fan started out talking about Matt's "assets" first, then she mentioned his piano skills and vocals. I guess Matt made some very wise wardrobe choices!
I knew Matt would be able to win over some new fans once they witnessed his incredible piano playing in person. I'm still in awe every time I think about the fact that he taught himself how to play only 5 years ago. WOW!
